Hey ... like they say ... an 8 with great centering will get bumped to an 8.5! image

The 8 that I'm selling has similar centering...perhaps I should send it in for a bump. image

Why would anyone buy that 8.5, it's terrible looking?

I always had thought that a half point grade was a card that held the standards of a particular grade, yet had superior qualities in terms of centering and "eye appeal"

Another reason selling graded cards is good, but buying them is not

The PSA label has good color, registration, and looks very well centered. I'm sure the PSA label collector who bought this will be pleased.

A new grade has been defined for it.

Sent this card back looking for a bump. All 4 corners are razor sharp, got denied because of the top to bottom centering. If it was centered as well as the Mathews I may have had a better chance.
From what I can tell, 707 is the DOLLAR STORE compared to deans_cards. For what that guy charges, if I ever bought anything from him I would expect it to be delivered to me in a frickin' limo.

From what I have seen since the .5 system, PSA has made no sense to me how it determines the .5 added to the grade. Ive seen a lot of others with not so good centering or even eye appeal and have the .5 added to the grade (or maybe subtracted???)

i'm surprised no one has evoked the cracked holder/replaced card theory yet.

but i can't find anything in the scans that would indicate tampering.

if that Mathews really was eight-fived in the grading room, then i'm astonished.

From personal experience with the 59 topps the Mathews is not an easy card even in an 8 considering his star status.Although I would not spend that much on it because of limited funds I do not think the card is overpriced.
