1985 Garbage Pail Kids Series 1 Packs Are Going For Crazy Prices!!!

Just look at the sold ones on Ebay the last few weeks. Looks like someone is buying them at any price. $75+ each ungraded! Only 5 cards in the pack with one being ruined by gum!

Adam bomb is pretty in pink.

I questioned myself for buying a gai 9 for $29. Seemed too high.

Looks like you got a great deal!! I have about 30 GAI packs that I was going to bust open someday but might not if they keep going up. Anyone have a Nasty Nick PSA 10 for me??

I was surprised to see them sell for so much. I bought a fresh box in the late 1990s and opened them. I still have all the cards, as well as my set. The box made only one complete problem free set. I could have made a second with some cards having gum/wax stains. I need to sell them on eBay I guess.

That's wild. I've thought about buying a series 1 box and series 2 to put away.

I collected series 3-12/14 as a kid. I wonder if series 1 will turn into something like 86 Fleer basketball in the future. It seems like they aren't done going up. Great set of cards that bring back a lot of memories.

I just relocated from the south to the north over the last week. During my transit, I stopped by an antique store and they had a complete set of Series 1 for $67.50, so I bought it. The cards are in near mint to mint condition with nice sharp corners. I could not resist at the given price.

A box of series one sold on eBay over the last week or so for over $3,000. I wish I never opened my box. image

How are Series 2 packs selling? I have a small stack of those somewhere...
I am buying and trading for RC's of Wilt Chamberlain, George Mikan, Bill Russell, Oscar Robertson, Jerry West, and Bob Cousy!
Don't waste your time and fees listing on ebay before getting in touch me by PM or at gregmo32@aol.com !

You can still buy boxes for the $300 range for Series 2, which I think is still an okay deal.

  • I am looking to buy a series one pack to get graded and hang on the wall. A huge part of my childhood was riding my bike all over town trying to find packs when they first started getting huge. Everyplace that sold them were out and man was it a pain, but I can say that the hunt and payoff when finding them was the catalyst for my hobby addiction image. Anyone have any that they are willing to part with?

There's still some on eBay. Unfortunately, you are going to have to spend $60 or more to get it.

I remember when series 2 were 12.00 a box at 7-11 back in 1985. I must have bought half a case back then as a 10 year old kid.
I remember when they were 180.00 a box this year. When did they double in price to 360.00?
I promised myself I'd buy one for the fond memories I had 27 years ago.
I kept my promise and bought the falcon afa 80q star wars and return of the Jedi at-at afa 80q. As special today to me as back in the 80s was.
Speaking of , anyone else collect star wars toys graded or ungraded?

Perhaps once I reach my 1962 topps mars attacks Psa 8.25 goal I'm 8.23 now I will build a high end 1st series gpk set. Or maybe just Psa 8 or 7.5 set for the heck of it to relive old memories.
