Went to a few pawn shops today...

Okay, so we went to three pawn shops and one coin shop today in search of Bullion deals. Here is what we found.

Gate 4 Pawn: No coins or bullion displayed, we did not ask.

Coin/ We buy Gold: This was a coin shop the last time I was in there... today the lay out was different and all I saw was jewelry in the counter... We left. On the way out we found that the sign now says, "We buy Gold"... Looks like it's one of those shops.

Pawn infront of McDonalds: No coins or bullion displayed. We left.

Pawn with coins: This is the only place that we found coins at. Here is what we found:

I did not see anything that jumped out at us so we moved on.

We went to two other Pawn shops but found they were closed. Also, one Gold and Bullion store (Probably my best chance of finding bullion in the area) but they were closed too.

Oh well, no new PMs for me.

Thanks for reading,
Ray

I would've at least asked about the 6 Morgans. Maybe could've snagged them cheap?

Keep looking. Most don't pan out, but you will find some. Intially went to about 6 places
and the 7th one worked out. Then months later only to find the small pawn shop I earlier
dismissed because I never asked him for silver, has the best deals I've ever found.
I had never asked, and nothing is on display, but he has everything.

I've been going to the bigger flea markets in an ever expanding search.
Found one guy that moves silver, and bought 2 coins at $31 just to make friends. Next time
I'll make him an offer for 10oz at a real price.

When I do deal on craigslist, I keep the contact info and tell them to just call me direct
next time and "I'll take them"

Looks like my ASE purchase delivery great deal from 'PiecesofMe' is about to be delivered.

Let us know about the morgans! Tell him as he comes buy more, to call you.
Check coinflation.com for the melt value of the morgans. Thats what you shoot for.

Also when the price starts to go up, you'll see it everywhere!

  • I was at a coin shop yesterday when someone called when gold was hitting its bottom wanting to buy $100K or more of physical. The shop owner referred him elsewhere. I saw a fellow repeatedly set up at a flea market various weekends selling 90% silver for 19X without takers in rural New England.

I did not make it back out there today but zooming in and looking at the photo, I believe they have a sticker under the second Morgan that says, "Morgan's $50 each". I believe that is why i did not make an offer. But... I will if I make it back there, but they might not like my offer...lol.

We are in a time right now where the Spot price means nothing to a seller. Sellers (B&M's, jewelry stores, pawn shops...people here, etc.) are selling PHYSICAL and they know what the demand is...this thread confirms it. If there's not anything really being made available, guess what that does the to PHYSICAL (not shouting, just making a point) price? Spot means nothing to a seller right now, get it?

There is always plenty of product, at least the way I see it, but when the value of Spot vs. what people are still willing to pay gets so out of whack like it is, the seller has patience because they know at some point the "right" buyer will eventually come along. (derryb likes to call this person the "smart" buyer, because anyone doing anything differently is dumb, at least that's what I derive from his implication image )

Another factor that I think is huge that no one seems to want to talk about is, I'd bet alot of money that people, even sellers image bought at considerably higher values than what Spot is trying to dictate the TRUE value is right now. Therefore, why in the world would a seller sell for a loss right now? Again, the sellers have patience and are willing to sit tight and sell what they believe the value to be, not what kitco says it is. Get it? I hope so because the sooner folks do, they will be alot less frustrated when trying to BUY image

The art of negotiation is a lost art as well. Buyers swear by that Spot price (which again...means NOTHING right now) Sorry, but I can't say it enough to make the point. The sooner buyers realize that a little negotiation can go a long way, that will be very beneficial for them.

The metals are "precious". Speaking of precious, my girlfriend said,
"Joe, what did I tell you ? Silence is golden, duct tape is silver"

That's probably a better sigline than what I currently have.
