1986 and 1987 Procards

Anyone here collect these? For the longest time, the only high dollar card here was the 86 Maddux and maybe the 86 Schilling, but I've noticed some big sales recently more broadly across the set. Lots of 1st cards of future HOFers here. I'm not sure of print runs, but I'm guessing its less than 10,000.

I've read a few blogs that indicated print runs were in the neighborhood of 5k. Still haven't found a definitive answer on production though.

Funny, as a few weeks ago I thought about posting a buy/trade post to acquire the complete run of 1986. Didn't think I would get any response.
From what I can remember, the individual team sets had different print runs. More popular teams, or teams with hot prospects had the highest print runs, while the lower level single A teams had the smallest print run. I do remember some of the bigger minor league dealers from that time selling full runs for $999. Wanted to purchase at that price, but as a teen, money didn't grow on trees.
A great resource for minor league sets were the 1986-1990 monthly issues of Tuff Stuff, when it was the large newsprint edition. The extensive news and price guides were invaluable. I am sure if another board member has any of these issues they could verify this. Alas, I tossed all my back issues, and have yet to find them since.
I remember the hottest set at that time was the Columbia Mets (Gregg Jeffries). Wish I bought and kept some of the Peoria sets
<< <i>This was a few years later, but I do know that in 1995 or 1996, Procards would give each player a large number of copies of their own cards--I'm guessing maybe 500 or so. >>
I've never heard that, but its a possibility. Even if they did this back in the 80's, that doesn't change the fact that these are far rarer than most of these player's percieved "rare" RCs. Take Maddux for example- People flock to his 87 Topps Traded Tiffany.... there were 30,000 of those sets produced. Not sure about the production of 87 Fleer Glossy, but I'm guessing its similar. I believe Maddux 86 Procards production to be somewhere between 5k and 10k.
Now the 86 Maddux has always been appreciated and the prices rightly reflect that. But more broadly in the set......compare the production of Randy Johnson's 86 card or his 87 ProCards Jacksonville issue pictured above....compare those to 89 Upper Deck. Heck even compare it to Johnson's 89 Topps Tiffany. Again, 89 Tiffany had a production run of 25k and I think those cards in psa 10 go for what...$500 - $750?
Ditto for the other sure-fire and potential HOFers mentioned earlier.
