OT: Met R. Lee Ermey Today (photo added)

He made an appearance at a local gun shop. He took time for everyone that was there and seems to be a really nice guy.

I got a photo signed and a pic with him.

Awesome...his performance in Full Metal Jacket still one of the best 15 minutes on the screen ever.

Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: Holy dog poo, Texas! Only steers and queers come from Texas, private Cowboy! And you don't much look like a steer to me so that kinda narrows it down!

A great performance of his, his first one- which started his film career - and a great underrated movie is "The Boys in Company C".

Agreed. Gunny is THE MAN. I saw Full Metal Jacket with my Marine buddies in 1987, about 6 months after boot camp. We thought the first half of that movie was the most awesome sh@t we'd ever seen. We laughed until we cried because we had just gone through it ourselves. Man, that brings back some great memories. Our country needs more MEN like the Gunny.

i agree - great movie. He was the military consultant on the movie and did such a great job of training the "actor" that the director hired him to do the DI scenes.

I hope Vitoco doesn't question why this is posted in a sports card forum & try to get it deleted.
I personally have no problem with the thread & thought he was good in every movie I've seen him in so far.

You climb obstacles like old people F***!

One of the best opening scenes to any movie I've seen.
I'm building a 1968 and a 1970 Topps set. I have lots of 1970s and 1960s to offer in trade.

Some say he's the only man that can beat up Chuck Norris.
So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

  • Saving Silverman was an ok movie if you are into dumb comedies. But R Lee Ermey was friggin' hillarious. Worth checking out to see the character he plays.
