I'm not sure there was any question of whether you needed to pay for the First Strike designation or not? Can you provide more info as to specifically what your question pertained to, so that your post is more useful to the board's general population.

PS - no attitude on my part intended...I just legitimately don't understand the point of your post.

  • I got $14 modern reg. labels on the 25th annis set. No $18 extra for FS! 2012 S set is $30.00 per coin any label.

You have to pay to play, I guess.

I mean if you want the label and all.

If you send PCGS 15 sets of the 75th, you can get them graded with FS labels for $30, a $2 discount.

I saw someone on the BST recently paying a premium for a normal blue label holder.

    I can see that.

Hate having a box full of blue labels with some other weird label in there.

I looked this morning and saw $18 for First Strike per coin. How is $30 being quoted? Please explain.

Look in the PCGS announcement page, it shows the available labels and quotes $30 per coin.

So basically, according to the announcement, it'll be $30 per coin regardless of which label you choose, FS, standard, etc with mercanti available only through bulk with a 15 set min.

Thus, even those sets which are not FS eligible will be $30 per coin with the designation on the label.

    Is that correct?

$30 If they aren't FS eligible, or you don't want FS or bulk, then the standard fees apply.

I just called PCGS Customer Service to clarify my confusion of these special labels and regular, plain, first strike labeling and the costs involved.

    He says:
Service fee +$18, or $32 per coin, for the Flag first strike label
$30 per coin for the Mercanti signature first strike label but must be a bulk order. Includes service fee.

Numbers to use on your submission forms for First Strike designation:
    Proof - 513093
    Reverse Proof - 513095

That's not how the "$30" link reads.

This is why I pass on paying a premium for a meaningless label.

Sorry to be so blunt - perhaps the heat is getting to me.

If one sends in a first strike ASE for spot review, are they reimbursed for the label too?
