Sold off a chunk of my collection and bought a hot set of wheels...

image

Well, not the sexiest of cars (it's not even a car, it's a minivan) but it'll fit my family (wife, 2 kids, w/ 1 on the way) with room to spare and make packing for trips a lot easier. Trying to travel in a Prius with 2 adults, 2 kids, and all their stuff makes for very tight and cramped quarters.

Anyways, I didn't want to touch savings to buy this and I wanted to pay cash. So, I decided that to do so, I could cash out most of the non-Giants-related graded cards I owned. Well, it worked.

The final numbers on the sales surprised me. I actually came out with a 10% net profit after all was said and done. I guess the post-war card market is still doing pretty good.

Great work, and congrats on the joining the "cards for cars" club! It's great to look at a car knowing you owe nothing on it... Especially a new one!

Good to see you have your priorities straight. Lots of luck with the new vehicle.

Rich, I did the exact same thing a year ago last April. I have never regretted selling off my Musial and Clemente cards to afford a new ride. I kept the cards that meant the most to me from each player.

My wife and I just had our second child 3 weeks ago and my wife has been nagging me to trade in my Yukon for a mini van. Even though it would be the practical thing to do, I just can't do it.

Heck there's more room in a Yukon anyway, isn't there?

You would think so, but not according to my wife. She said that it would be a lot more easier for her to get the kids in and out of a mini van than having to lift them and put them into the Yukon.

Nice new ride. That is a great thing you did for your family. My son is almost 3 and my GMC Yukon XL has become the family transportation. My wife gets to keep her car to herself. Thankfully for me my wife loves the truck. She loves the 4-wheel drive and heated leather seats in the winter. We sometimes have snow on the ground 5 months of the year.

I've got two kids and made the jump to the minivan two years ago. It was tough at first but now I love it. Best part is the built in dvd player. Any long trips are made easier with videos. And now that my oldest is 7, he wants to bring friends along. Plenty of room for my two and a couple friends.

Part of growing up I guess.

I have a Yukon. Great truck with lots of room. Minivans have better MPG though.

It really is a sweet ride; and it's serial numbered too! Looks like it would grade a 9+.

    Beautiful ride.

After 10 years and 150k miles in my SUV, I went out and bought this last month:

Had to have a back seat for our kids (2 siberian huskies). Too bad it has been too hot the last several weeks here in St. louis to take them to the state parks.
