1910 canadian half Victorian leaves?

I've been going through my canadian coins looking them up in my new Guide to Canadian coins and Tokens book.

Is this pic good enough to determine the type of leaves?

When I bought it I paid scrap for it because the seller had described it as gouged but I felt like it was a planchet defect as it seems like a crack rather than a slice of some sort. It doesn't go through to the obverse however.

I have a 1864 1Cent Nova Scotia with the same gauge..
just wonder how these get to be?

I'd say Victorian also. Can't figure out if that's a planchet flaw or what. Can you post more pictures?
