Looking for advice on neutral feedback on Ebay

I recently sold a single g/u card on Ebay. I ship in a plastic case in a padded envelope for $2.50, which is stated in the item description. Normally, to ship in a padded envelope, the post office charges me $1.95. This time, however, the post office only charged me $0.90 to ship the card. The buyer leaves me neutral feedback because I charged $2.50 for shipping and it only cost me $0.90 to ship the card. Here is the neutral feedback from Ebay:

charged $2.50 for shipping, only paid .90 cents to ship it. Buyer: Member id xxxxxx ( Feedback Score Of 381) Jun-29-12 14:03

I am at a loss. What can I do in response? I state upfront what the shipping is going to be and then I get neutral feedback because the buyer feels the shipping is too high. As the seller, I am getting the screws put to me. If my normal cost is $1.95 to ship, what am I supposed to do for shipping?

Sorry if I seem to rambling, but I am just upset that I get neutral feedback because the buyer thinks the shipping is too high. I feel that $2.50 is reasonable shipping for a padded envelope.

If anyone has any guidance on how to handle this with Ebay &/or buyer, I would appreciate any help.

Thanks.

I agree with above two comments. Anyone looking at your f/b will see that it is a bogus neutral anyway.

    (1) Ignore FB......anyone with any common sense has given up on the feedback game long ago
    (2) Anyone who complains about shipping is a DB supreme. Guess he forgot that you probably paid a few bucks for the pack you then sold him the card for 99 cents didnt he? He doesnt care about the money you lost there or the fact he got a card that probably books for $6-$10 for 99 cents also. Does he also complain about going to the gas station and paying $3.00 for gas when they probably only have about $2.75 in it?

Seriously, if the shipping charge is clearly listed, I dont care if you charge $100 to ship it and it only costs you $1.95, the person complaining is a DB.

That neutral just warns other idiots like the buyer you had not to buy from you. Which is way better than a positive feedback. Think of it like that.

If it really bothers you, and it seems it does, just contact the idiot to explain the situation, apologize profusely, and refund in full his shipping cost if he changes the feedback. That would be the selfish (non ebay community member) thing to do, but for $2.50 if you want to keep your feedback perfect it's the thing to do. Then block him and post his ID so we can all harass him and have some fun!!!
  • you could also put a disclaimer in your ad saying that you do not package anything up until payment is made so first class postage may be off,, but like the others have said neutral still gives you 100%, so move on and block him/her,,,j

The only way to avoid this in the future is to add a couple of dollars to your starting price and ship for free.

I got my first neutral/negative the other day. I charge a flat fee for USPS Priority Mail of $15 for the shoes I sell. My neutral comment was just "Meh". So my buyer could have been unhappy about the shoes or the shipping. I'm unsure at this point. $160 shoes, from a few years ago for half price, isn't too bad. If he was unhappy with the actual $12 shipping fee, maybe he didn't include the $3 box I had to buy at the Post Office to ship it. Never mind I had to drive over my lunch break to do it. I simply blocked him and called it a day.

I think you should just use ebay or paypal shipping, which allows you to hide the shipping costs on the postage mailer. If the buyer doesn't see the postage the seller paid, they are less likely to ding you. Saying that, the minimum cost to ship via ebay/paypal is $1.64 right now since 2oz and 3oz costs the same. If you were able to ship via 90 cents at the post office, then you saved money in a way there.

PLEASE POST THE USERID SO THAT I AND OTHERS CAN PREVENT THE SAME PROBLEM.

I am screaming for a reason.
I am working on the Nolan Ryan master set. Need 1004 more cards to complete. I might actually spend more on plastic than I did on cardboard.
