OT: Ebay sale What happened here?

On June 10 I sold my old iPhone on Ebay. The buyer paid on June 11 via Paypal. I shipped the phone and tracking shows that it was received. I have not heard anything from the buyer. Two days ago I receive this email from Ebay:
MC999 Suspicious buyer for item 290722613043
Hello depcs,
We're writing to let you know that we canceled bids for the following buyer because they aren't registered with eBay:

Please don't complete the transaction and don't ship the item. You may have received an email saying the buyer has paid, however, that message is probably fake. To check if you actually received a payment, please log in to your PayPal account. Also, be sure to report fake emails to us. For more information about reporting emails that might be fake, go to:
http://pages.ebay.com/help/account/questions/report-spoof-email.html
We've attempted to credit the final value fees associated with this purchase, and also the insertion fee for single-quantity listings. If you don't see the final value fee credit in your account history, you can request a final value fee credit for the listing. To find out how to request a final value fee credit, go to: http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/credits.html
To help you avoid this situation in the future, consider setting a Buy It Now price and requiring buyers to make an immediate payment. For more information on immediate payments, go to:
http://pages.ebay.com/help/pay/require-immediate-payment.html
I checked my Paypal account and the money is still there. Ebay has removed the listing and all other evidence of the sale. Why would this take place so long after the sale? Is there anything I need to worry about? Thanks for any help. Dave

I once bought an item. About a week later, I got the same type of message. I was told that I needed to ask Paypal for a refund. I ignored the email as I had already received the item.
Happy 4th.
