I had an 800.00 pack that was put in the at the PO one digit off the correct zip at the counter and it took 15 days to get the priority package from TN to NC.
Just glad it showed up.
While I'm on the PO, one of my postman (they switch off) has been getting lazy and doesn't bother to ring my doorbell to sign for packages, but rather just leaves the slip. </rant>
Overall, the PO is great.
Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.
I have had three instances as a buyer where the bubble mailer was damaged to the point where the card inside was ruined, and I assume it wasn't that way when it left the seller's hands. But that's three times over six years and many hundreds of purchases.

<< <i>Overall the PO does a good job considering the billions of pieces they handle. One problem is when there is a problem they take no responsibilty or action to correct it other than their customer service rep who explains they are not just punting you off as he punts you off. >>
Yep, if any of you have ever dealt with a claim, you guys wouldn't be so gracious with the positive comments. While normal day to day mail is effecient, our U.S. Post Office Service insurance service has got to be the worst. If you haven't experienced it yet, you are luckey. I purchased a Harmen Kardon vintage reciever ten years ago that was totally trashed. They refused to pay for any damaged and this thing was in pieces. I tried to get some victory by requesting my insurance money back, but since I didn't purchase it (the ebay seller did) I couldn't make a claim for it. That issue never did get resolved. It was double boxed and packed good, but it must of taken a lofty fall of something. I also still have two original Mickey Mantle menus from his retaurant that were folded in half before they were placed in my mailbox. They wouldn't accept responsibility for damaging them. I did put up a larger box after that. But it's the idea that once you make your initial claim, you never get to speak to another human. It's horrible. There is also a package of mine floating around somewhere, guess it's been 6-7 years. Maybe I'll be on the news when I get it delivered in another 10 years. I can't knock the ebay seller, he provided tracking, it just never was trackable. My sister works for the USPS in Oregon; she tells lots of stories, my favorite being of a guy who couldn't get his package out of his mailbox, so he took the mailbox and package to the post office. I guess I can relate to to that story because of my Mantle menus.
To be honest, no direction, but...
1966-69 Topps EX+
1975 minis NrMt Kelloggs PSA 9
All Topps Heritage-Master Sets
The USPS is more likely to lose or accidentally damage a package, but the private carriers are more likely to have someone steal all of part of the contents.
My mother's business has had to fight with both FedEx and UPS over inventory shipments that were received with openings cut in the sides of packages (canvas in one case, cardboard in another), and items removed.

The ShipInsure insurance offered through ebay when printing postage is hands down the easiest to work with. I have had one package damaged in transit and one lost. The damaged item was reimbursed within 72 hours. I had to wait 30 days for the lost item but the claim was paid within 48 hours of filing it. You can file the claim online and the insurance is less expensive than USPS.
