Wow, ANOTHER strong sale of an Andre the Giant autograph

A couple of months ago I posted some wrestling autographs at an auction that realized what I thought were very strong prices. Was browsing ebay today, and saw another one that caught my eye in the completed item search. Andre was on all of these mentioned. There must be a good demand for his autograph. Here's this one from ebay that sold for $1100 recently. A simple, personalized index card.
I can't think of another personality from the sporting world that died as late as 1993, whose autograph on an index card would command $1,100.
When I first started buying autographed Wrestling All Stars, I used to chuckle that I was paying what I thought was an absurd price for a wrestling autograph, and some of my collecting friends used to needle me over it as well. However, with the strong sales I've seen recently in wrestling signatures, I just might get the last laugh if I eventually sell mine. It's awfully tempting when I see strong sales like the four figure index card above.

While I agree that the prices are impressive, I see many red flags between yours and his.
Looking to BUY n332 1889 SF Hess cards and high grade cards from 19th century especially. "Once you have wrestled everything else in life is easy" Dan Gable

There aren't many authenticated Andre sigs that actually look alike, LOL. Here's some more. All the Andre's posted here and above have been JSA or PSA/DNA'd.

<< <i>Andre's hand was so big and a pen was a little difficult to maneuver...... There is a lot of variance in his autograph.....makes it tough to find an authenticated one..... >>
With the popularity of his sig and the that card Navarro could bank on that card. I wish it had a little better corners but he is going to rake it in if he sells.
This is an amazing piece of American history and a real treasure.
Mike you know how rare this is and while I agree the condition of the card could be better the fact that there are so few if any others makes this an unreal piece in any high end collection.
Thanks for pulling this out and showing the world. Simply awesome!
<< <i>Don't kid yourself the Andre The Giant autograph on the 1982 Wrestling All Stars card would bring a very strong price.

??
Is this towards me?
Thought I was pretty clear that I thought he would make a lot if he ever sold.
Pmcollectour wrote that he saw many red flags between Mike's auto and the others that had sold for the amounts he was referencing.
I just believe that the card Mike has signed would bring huge money on the open market.

Oh, I agree. I think it would bring a lot more than an index card.
I came across this card this morning and this is obviously just an on card reprint but it is a WWF licensed product so I think this is a great item to use to look for real Andre The Giant signatures.

<< <i>Hello, I'm the jerk who paid $1100 for the blue Andre cut. If anyone has any Andres for sale please write back. I don't feel that the Andre on TWA letterhead is real even though it's authenticated by PSA/DNA. Actually, I spoke to PSA and expressed my concerns. I have 34 right now and I'll probably stop when I get to 50. "The KNAPP Collection" >>

<< <i>Mike, Just curious. Did you ever send the Andre 1982 card to PSA/DNA, and if so what was the outcome? Thanks, Greg >>
Greg
I sent it to an in store authentication at Mill Creek Sports some time back The individual working for PSA/DNA that day at the store did not render an opinion on it one way or the other and I paid no fee on it. I plan on sending it to them when I send in my Thurman Munson signed rookie as they are the same value and pricing tier. They are too pricy to send on the normal subs you see from time to time and must go on the pricing for cards valued over $500.
I took it to Jimmy Spence personally here in Dallas during a visit to Beckett, and he loved it. Said it was one of the neatest things he had seen all day,and that it was definitely good. I went ahead and had them slab it, but like indicated above, I plan on crossing it over to PSA/DNA eventually

I kind of like his autograph wish I had chased it back then?

<< <i>Did piece with Andre, Crusher Blackwell, Grand Wizard ect come with any PSA or JSA type of authentication? Such a amazing piece. Wonder who owns that now. Could get some sweet cut autos made out of it. >>
In my opinion it would be borderline criminal to cut up a unique piece of wrestling history like that. Reminds me of someone who came into our store with a clipped Abraham Lincoln signature that he had personally cut off of the document a month prior.
RIP Mom- 1932-2012
Check this out. This is a 8x10 Autographed photo of Andre the Giant that I obtained years ago from a Wrestling photographer named Jim Irvine Selling it one Ebay for $1000.00.
If any one is interested I have others like Bret Hart, Dynamite Kid and Harley Race
If you get it authenticated by either PSA DNA or JSA you could probably get double of what you are asking.

If all Andre sigs are different then how does anyone authenticate his auto?
I get rushed auto’s and changes over the years but these sigs are all over the place.
The OP auto, I suspect that one didn’t pass PSA?
Thenavarro was one of my favorite posters ever on this forum. I remember when I first stumbled upon this site, in the summer of 2009, I was blown away by his signed rookie collection.
I knew went to law school (coincidentally right at the same time I was working on my doctorate because I could relate to his posts) and sold off a lot of his collection to fund various projects. But I wish he would still come around.
I wonder what mine is worth? It has Andre and a super rare quick draw McGraw who died at 30 and many others has Jsa letter j![](https://us.v-cdn.net/6027503/uploads/editor/x8/9byt1liawips.jpeg "
Nice item. About 8 months ago I sold a McGraw auto for around 60 bucks to a guy in Sweden.
