Why so many bids from one person on my eBay item?

I have one item up for sale on eBay (the 1967 OPC wax pack that I tried to sell in the BST - not trying to hype here). It's been for sale for 2 days and I saw it has 29 bids. When I looked at the bids, about 25 of them are from the same person and for the same dollar amount. Many of the bids are within a few seconds of each other. Anyone know the rationale of doing something like that?

Trying to scare away other bidders either by (1) making them think that that bidder has already put in a really high bid through those multiple bids or (2) is shilling the card.

Well now that same bidder has like 5 more bids on it - all for the same amount!

Is there anything I can or should do about this? Do I contact eBay? contact the bidder? I don't want this scare away other potential bids.

BTW - looking at the detail now, I can see some of the amounts are different. I could swear they were all $122 when I looked before.

I think it is a sniping software gone crazy - I've seen about 10 of these lately including this One.

I don't think it will be a problem - just a little kooky. It wouldn't scare me as it isn't a shill pattern at all.

douchebaggery bidding 101, from my experience it's pointless to even block it or do anything as it's typically someone using a lower feedback account to do it, then they win it with their regular account.

I agree. A lot of the bids are 6-8 seconds apart. I doubt he would re-bid that quickly multiple times in a row. You'll get a better idea when the next bid by someone else is placed.

Thanks for the comments guys. Over the past few years I have not sold much on eBay any more, due to rising costs and the whole one way feedback system. This thing kind of freaked me out a little. Hopefully no more bids from this person.

Here we go again...... another ton of bids from the same bidder. Very strange.

It does not look like shilling as mentioned. One does not shill oneself.

The bids are not for the same amounts, the system doesn't allow that....you have no way of knowing what they are. However, they are all likely the next min, and the bids are likely a hope to drive away possible bidders.
