In response to the solicited thread.

I am editing this post to clarify the mention of two websites I believed to have been spammed to me on these forums. I went back and was instructed by a friendly member on how to look for old private messages. The messages that included the signature of both the sites mentioned before the edit were not to be found on this forum. I still worry about spam and spam filtering since my mother received a bad virus once from an e-mail chain letter she opened. That's why I felt the thread was necessary.

1) The PM system as it is, vulnerable to spam.
2) A PM system that filters out all hyperlinks, even those sent in messages between friends.
While no one likes unsolicited messages, I wouldn't want the PM system to filter out hyperlinks, either. Just ignore it and move on, or as someone else just mentioned, reporting it to mods is likely to produce results.
Also, I am assuming you are running Windows - Microsoft Security Essentials is free and excellent to protect your computer from infection or intrusion if you are concerned about such things.
As for the PM spam turn them in to the MOD's it is against the TOSS we all agreed to when we joined.
Myself I checked out the site of the other forum and found it lacking to the ones I am already a member of.
Dealer spam gets people booted rather quickly unless it is open listings on the BST Forum.

forgot about flash drives, SD cards etc. viruses are easily transferred that way.

we have every right to be nervous about things going on.

I don't know a thing about the site except that they tried to recruit me as a member by sending me an unsolicited PM through this site. If the members / founders there don't understand why that is somewhere between "unprofessional" and "unethical" on the spectrum of bad ideas, then I don't see any reason to join, as those are not the sort of people with whom I want to spend my free time or money.

Nothing to be nervous about.
It was not a solicitation as the title falsely suggests. It was an invitation.
