Article: IS SILVER A GOOD DEAL AT $27 to $29?
Article Link:
Referred from the Coinflation.com site list of articles. The following was quoted in this article - which is biased to suggest now is a good time to buy... Does anyone consider this statement below valid and had such experiences when the price was that low?

“When silver last fell below $10, you couldn’t buy it for less than 20 to 40 percent over spot,” Beegle said. “We view precious metals more as insurance than as an investment. We tell our customers to have physical product in their possession.”

Premiums were definitely higher. The only way around the higher premiums was a very long waiting period from certain suppliers. I believe I waited 2 1/2 months to get three 100oz bars from NWT Mint in late 2008.

I've got 38 mixed dates for better than that and will get them to you quicker too.
But go ahead, pay the man when you can pay a trusted guy here. Makes no damn sense to me, but it is your money. Do with it what you will.

At a coin show yesterday some dealers were applying larger premiums with silver around $27.50. I politely walked away when quoted $32 to $34 per ounce.

Patience will pay off. One dealer had poured Engelhard bulls horn 10's for $1.50 over. Even on ebay some silver bar BIN's will be listed at around $1 over - they just don't last long.

Two silver prices. Spot is paper price. Spot plus premium is physical price. Physical sellers know their product is superior to the paper and will adjust their premium to paper market risks. A growing premium reflects perceived increased risk in paper markets. Expect premiums to continue increasing.

Physical has disconnected itself from paper because of all the paper that is not backed by physical. As the paper outgrows the physical that is actually held to back it, the premiums for physical will increase. Premiums reflect the counterparty risk associated with paper. Physical in your hands has no counterparty risk. Premiums are what you pay to remove that risk and to have a fabricated product such as the silver eagle. Differences in premiums are a result in differences in refined product and the level of demand for and trust in a particual refined product.

Note that premiums will also temporarily increase when demand increases cause supplies to become temporarily limited.

By Yup, I'll assume you mean you guys recommend 'PiecesofMe' as a seller.
-Vise-versa for you as the recommendor. Same for me in building my rep as well as buyer and future seller.

Will enjoy purchasing and other dealings in the group when ez and possible.
A stated price, esp on a base deal and for newer members clarifies things and makes it easier for the potential buyer to go to the next step. Can understand bargining on rare, slabbed, etc. that require more dealing.

    thx,

Yup, ha. Yeah I was referring to buying here or local, especially over Apmex with their shipping and 3% (if you go CC) bumps.

PiecesofMe is being very patient as I ask him about payment methods and references to start purchasing. If ya liked his deals let me know.
If you can get prices like he's giving, then why buy elsewhere.

Never considered Supply as a problem for Premiums. Good to know new things.
If supply got real low and premiums when very high, I'd just wait until that changed.

It's still a different world for people coming into this now.
