1993 SP Baseball

Opened 2 boxes of 1993 SP Baseball. Yielded 2 Manny Ramirez, 2 Johnny Damon, 1 Chipper Jones and 1 Jeter.

The Jeter had a couple of scratches and a ding. But all the others noted were flawless.

To anyone contemplating ripping 1993 SP boxes, don't bother. All cards noted received 8s except for the Chipper Jones - Evidence of Trimming - straight from the box.

I do not know what they are looking for when they grade these cards.

I have heard many many stories of 1993 SP cards straight from the box coming back as EOT. I have about 15 boxes that I have yet to open for this very reason. Does anyone know if PSA would allow them to be opened at their office or at a show to prove the cards hadn't been trimmed?

There is a lot of edge chipping on the front and back that isn't always easy to see with the foil. Also, the cards are not consistently cut. Any card that is short they will assume is trimmed, basically because they can't tell the difference on modern stock.
