1971 Topps Rack Pack / 1965 Wax Pack Break Videos

I managed to film and post to Youtube the videos of me opening a 1971 Topps 1st Series rack pack and a 1965 5c wax pack. Check them out. Also, if anyone is familiar with youtube search tags, I could use a little help. None of my search tags are working, so the only way to get to the videos at the moment is through the URL. I promoted the PSA forums and BBCE on the video so hopefully a few newbies will stumble across my videos and join the craziness! Here they are...

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

<< <i>Did you know you were gonna land that Munson due to sequencing? Especially since you were expecting a Rose and the Niekro. >>
No the Munson was a total surprise. Based on sequencing, a Rose was supposed to be in the first pocket. I'm glad it isn't totally predictable so that people won't know what's inside before opening these packs. It's not a huge problem with a rack like this because 54 cards in a series of 132 pretty much guarantees something good will be in every pack. However, it could be a bigger issue for wax and cello where some packs could have no major stars in them.
I guess the point is, based on the small sample size of my brother's collection (a handful of packs) and your rip, the sequencing is not as predictable as one would imagine. It is quite a different case with the 1970 Topps in my opinion.
Also, note that my brother was not the type to have been trading any cards. He had little or no interest in baseball and my dad probably bought him the packs. I cherished those cards. You should see the Reggie!
If I could find any 1971 Topps unopened, I would rip anything I could get my hands on!
Looks like John was pretty accurate in his "forecast" LOL!
with '71 racks going 18 cards deep, I'd imagine the sequence breaks at least once. Also, depending on the year, the sequence can vary to some degree.
Good luck on the grades!
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
Also, maybe it's just me, but it was refreshing to hear the old fellas' names pronounced correctly in a rip vid!!
<< <i>You know a guy knows his cards when he states the card number of a common without even looking at the back.
It's a little scary isn't it.
<< <i>Thanks for sharing, John! Nice pulls, too!

Thanks Tim. I'm hoping one or two commons will pull a 9. I should about break even on the pack which is pretty good considering it was the rack that was in the worst condition.
John was pretty close just missing the Munson subbing for the first Rose. Wish that card had been nicely centered but I guess that's why an 8 will go for $800.
many dups in all 3 sections as i did expect!
you have a nice calm cool voice.
Inspired me to go home and rip 2 of my 75 wax and pull two more off center Fred Stanley's!!!
When's your birthday. I'm sending you an xacto knife. That Swiss army action gave me am anxiety attack.
Thanks for sharing the rips.
<< <i>Great vid gemint

Haha, thanks. I have an exacto as well but I thought the mini scissors would be the best option. The thought of pushing a blade through stiff 40 year old plastic toward the cards was too much stress for me to bear. It was a little awkward to use but I think it was the safest bet and was successful in the end.
Did you film the 75 rip? Would love to see the videos.

<< <i>Very nice job John,

Thanks Jose. The steadiness in my voice was not representative of the fear I had of dropping that Rose before I got it into a Card Saver.
you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet
I do have vid of getting into the first part of a vending box - that was amazing - although the grades as expected were less so. Will post to YouTube once I figure out my account.
Would like to touch base with you on some 71 guidance. Driving myself crazy and broke on that one.
<< <i>I didn't film the wax. To be honest, I planned to hold them all but allowed myself a little guilty pleasure. The rest I'm sending for grade - to pretty to rip.

Sure hit me up with a PM and I'll give you whatever guidance I can. Was the vending from '75? That would be cool to see. I have a VHS tape from several years ago that filmed me opening a '71 cello and a '69 cello. If I can find them, I'll try to convert them to digital and post them as well.
I loved when you started to doubt the great and all knowing Moran and his amazing card predicting ability. He is probably still looking over his notes to see how he missed that Munson.
Everytime I saw this thread I was at work and they block youtube. I can't understand why.
Edit in bold.

<< <i>John, that was simply awesome. Great job on the rip and the video. All you need is Jeff's sound effects and you can give the pack geek a run for his money.

No, I prepared myself with some drinks before viewing the video.
Plus, John is a professional.

+1

LOL Mike, you know me well. I went with the card on the right instead of the left when sequencing it. That's what I get for doing it by memory before going to work. Got all the other stars though
