What's the best way to prep a glossy card for signing?

I'm getting Hines Ward tomorrow and getting his 98 Leaf Rookies and Stars card. Which is a glossy card What's the the best way to prep the card? I'm afraid it's going to bleed or run when signed.

Rubbing your thumb across the area you want signed a few time usually does the trick!

Most importantly though, use the right marker... on glossy cards, always use a Staedtler Lumocolor permanent marker! Sharpies, even the Industrial grade ones, are totally hit and miss... and it sucks when it's a miss.

Bobby ... pour a little powder on the card ... rub it around and then brush off the excess. That, along with using the Staedtler Lumocolor marker, should do the trick!
