'55T Mantle custom. Yellow, red or green?

I'm nearing completion of my custom 1955 Topps-style Mickey Mantle. Which background color do you think looks best?

In original '55T there were 10 yellow Yankees, two red and a green.

First, let me say I REALLY like the card. I especially enjoy your choice of a shot with Mickey posing with his glove. Not one of his base Bowman or Topps card show him with his glove except his 56T card, and even that is an action shot. One idea: can you match the color of his hats? I see he's wearing the away uniform in both images so the hat colors should be pretty close. As far as background colors, I'm torn between the red and yellow.

Make all 3 of them and have the background be a different variation or have the yellow numbered to 777, green to 77, and red to 7.

Just on basic aesthetics, I would probably go with red or green, but looking at the other guys who were in the actual set, I think yellow is probably the way to go.

Based on polls on two sites, red and yellow are about dead even.

As pointed out, "outfield" is correct, rather than "outfielder."

On the final card, I'll probably darken the portrait cap some.

While I did create both yellow and green background '55T "alternate" Koufax rookie customs, I'm loathe to print more than one version of the Mantle. I had initially ruled out yellow because that's what Topps chose when they did a retro version a few years ago. If I do go with yellow, I may fiddle with the color of the data bar at bottom.

I'll post the final choice on my blog (linked below), along with the back, today or tomorrow.

The yellow version looks like a card that could be in the original set. The red and green versions look too modern and fake with the neon yellow and red text box at the bottom.

I like the red background best, in combination with the white of Mickey's uniform and the blue Yankee hat.

Plus, those colors match the Yankee Top Hat logo
