GAI PACK GRADING, TOOK 6 MONTHS, RUDE PEOPLE, PLEASE READ!!!

i will never send another pack to gai or demian werner ever again, he is the rudest person i ever talked to and they screwed so many packs up 3 hockey packs labeled wrong year1978-79 opc were labeled 1977-78, and most recent i had waited 6 months, yes 6 months for a 1984 topps football rack pack w/ marino glossy on top and dickerson rc on back, so i get it back and first it is half melted to the new rack holders they use 2nd. the right side of the rack is ripped on the side. 3rd they labeled it wrong ,yes another one, by labeling it 1985 topps rack pack gai 9. i looked at b.b.b in iowa where they are at and they have so many complaints against them, its nuts. so i called and talked to demian werner and he wanted me to send the pack back, can you screw anything else up on it? and he was a rude person to the extreme says he wants me to send it back, yeah right? and he will give me $70 for it, i will never do that b/c i dont trust gai as far as i could throw them. and i would never see the $. just venting b/c i could not believe how i was treated. any other horrer stories from gai, thanks god i sold 90% of th3e packs i got graded from them and its all psa now, it is amazing the difference i get treated like a person w/ them and they anwser and return phone calls it great compared to the treatment from demian werner at global. i have it all on the conversation recorded on my phone b/c i knew what kind of company it was when i called back, so i recorded it. thanks for listening and let me know if you had the same or worseimage

They are still in business? I had no idea and consider you lucky to get your packs back at all.

Just curious, what do they charge to attempt to grade a rack pack in six months?

I'm just curious why you shipped anything to them to holder if you didn't trust them in the first place?

I have not sent anything there in years and usually avoid anything in the new holders unless I know it's from a reliable source. The vast majority of packs with the old silver flip are perfectly fine in my experience which includes personally cracking and opening nearly 200 packs. There are some notable exceptions however- - so called grocery cellos among them.

Sorry this happened to you. I have had mechanical errors happen on both GAI and PSA packs.

  • hi, they charged me $25 for that one and they are still accepting packs for grading, not from me or anyone that i would say do it, also i had a 1970 and 1971 grocery cello and they did send those back as questionable, but b-4 they used to grade them when that one grader was there, and those packs started with 102 in the pack #. here is another crazy deal w/ demian werner at global, that same time with the 1984 rack after the completly ruined that rack i sent them a 1979 topps hk rack tray and i was on the phone w/ demian werner, says he's the owner and said he wont grade it, so he said lets open the package and look at the packs i agreed, and he said ohh, you have 1 of the 3 packs in the rack tray is good the other 2 are resealed??? what, i said and , there is no talking to this guy , he thinks he is god's gift to us, he graded that 1 pack an gai 8 and sent the other 2 back as resealed, how crazy, and they have no cusomer service at all. have a good night.
  • hi, about sending the packs to him that was the first time and i got 4 packs back that were wrong and the rack that the tore up and melted it to the seal that he wants me to send back to him, no thanks.
  • That is one looooooooong sentence.

It's widely known among tray collectors that 79-80 hockey trays are suspect. There's a pack factory down South that is notorious for fabricating those so in that case Werner actually made the right call.

  • i sse what you are saying why did i send more packs after i got the others back, i did not , gai said they were out of rack holders and asked if me if i wanted him to keep the 2 racks i sent, and he said it will be about a month til i get them back and i said yes, and got them back after 3 months, they had them for a total of 6 months, unreal.
  • yeah, i agree but how could 1 pack be gradable and 2 not be??? in the same sealed tray?

That is a bit odd. Personally, if I were grading I'd have rejected them all if all 3 packs came out of the same tray.

About a year ago I sent in 6 racks for grading. I can't remember which level of service I paid for, but I believe I paid quite a bit to get them graded and returned in 20 days.

    It took 5 months.

I really like their new rack holders, and they did grade me fair since I knew the source of the racks being from an unopened, sealed box. . .I got 9's.

But the delays are pretty unbelievable. And I did get attitude. . .

If only we had actual MODs who didn't just kill threads protecting certain high end PSA customers who could do an IP check.

I agree that this is him again.

Here is the new GAI rack holder. . .

I like it a lot, but it is frustrating waiting for months to see the finished product.
