Lost package advice.

Shipped a $1,450 card on the 11th. Is was by USPS Priority and is Tracked and Insured for it's full value. Buyer emails me today asking where is the card and the tracking # shows that it has not moved at all. The estimated delivery date was the 13th. Any advice would be appreciated if you have gone threw this before.

Was there signature required for delivery?

If not, the receipient may have tracked the # and sees that it is in limbo and is trying to double down with card and refund.

If it shows it hasn't moved yet, go to the post office that you took it to first.

Definitely go to the post office. They can sometimes track/locate from the insurance label number. They will be motivated to find it- they certainly won't want to pay out for the insurance value.

I had a Priority mail flat rate box missing for a week also. It was mixed in with the parcel post items and went to a different distribution center.

Local Post Office told me where it was but tracking took a while longer to show.

Anything insured for over $200 requires a signature upon delivery.

Communicate with the buyer everything you do in your quest in dealing with the post office.
You could even let them know you posted on this forum to get advice.

Go to the P.O. and ask to speak to the Postmaster, bring your documentation. Be firm and business-like.

It is not uncommon for a package to get mixed up and not scanned for a while. If it moved all around and then didn't get scanned for a while that would be a concern
  • I can't figure out why he didn't send the card CERTIFIED or REGISTERED ?

I like sending cards like this using Express Mail... not much can happen to it in 24 hours.
  • I had something like this happen to me. It arrived about three and a half weeks after I shipped it. USPS did not show me any tracking updates until it was out for delivery.

this, priority mail with $1500 insurance is probably the same cost as express mail with $1500 insurance.
