Should this card be in a PSA 9 holder?

I was looking to upgrade a few cards for my 1968 Topps set and I ran across this card and it seems way off left to right for a PSA 9.

What is your opinion on the grade?

I just decided to buy this PSA 8 instead because I just liked the centering/price much better.

The left border is hidden behind the channel a bit, which makes the centering appear worse than it is. While not great, I think the centering is within range for a PSA 9.
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."

I sent Joe Orlando an email a few years ago suggesting that PSA try putting the "channel" on the back half of the slab, instead of the front.

^^my thoughts are the same^^, even before I read them

Not a great 9, but still probably correct.

    Nice 8 BTW

That's where you have to buy the card and not the holder. You can take two different cards with the same centering, both within the PSA 9 guidelines and one will look better centered than the other. A lot has to do with the design of the card and where the off centering is and how that plays to the eye.

At ~25% of the price I think you made the wise decision.
