I am strictly a buyer on ebay. There was a time when I cared about this issue. Now I don't. All I care about is getting an item I paid for in good order

<< <i>It happened to me 3 separate times with that particular seller. I paid instantly, I gave him positive feedback and full stars upon receipt of each item and he couldn't give a damn to reciprocate just once. So I'm passed first time, shame on him, now it's in shame-on-me as the saying goes. >>

Right or wrong, some sellers don't give feedback. If he didn't provide FB after your 2nd purchase, safe to assume not to expect one after the 3rd time.

<< <i>If I'm still not making any sense, how bout 3 strikes you're out for this seller? >>

Ban scammers rather than sellers that don't provide satisfactory customer service... The market will eventually take care of the latter.

  • I once dealt with a buyer on the phone because he wanted to possibly do a trade for my card I had up. Turns out he didn't have anything I really wanted. I lowered the price from what I was originally asking (not too much lower either) and he was going to also save me by purchasing on paypal directly as a "gift". This guy was the biggest pain in the arse that I ever dealt with (even as of today) and after about 3 days of going back and fourth - he finally purchased the card. I had to lower my price through eBay because he didn't know how to use paypal from what I saw in dealing with him and he couldn't figure out how to pay an invoice. Anywho, I left feedback immediately. I sent the card with tracking a DC and he didn't leave feedback. That really ticked me off because I went above and beyond for that clown. I sent him a friendly reminder and still got nothing back. People like that do piss me off so I could understand the OP's concern but to create a thread about this is a waste of time and flat out ridiculous. I think you may need to find another hobby.

My feedback on my buying account is 2443 at 100%. I dont give a crap if someone leaves me feedback or not at this point. But my feedback is 50+ at 100% on my selling. I dont sell much. Even then, I dont give a crap if someone leaves me feedback or not. Do I leave feedback? Most of the time but Im guilty for taking a month, sometimes more cuz I do it when I think of it and when Im bored. Unless your feedback is really bad, not many care.

We've done ebay since 1998 and I can tell you that feedback dynamics are totally different than they were before when it was a two-way system.

What a lot of buyers don't get is that it simply makes no difference. Feedback means absolutely nothing to a buyer- (and it's becoming less important to the seller-but I digress).
Buyers can only get either a positive or nothing at all...so merely looking at a bidder's feedback score essentially says nothing about them...you'd have to look at what FB they've left others to see if they're a potential problem bidder or not, and sometimes even that's not an accurate indicator. Plus, as long as the ability to snipe exists, it wouldn't matter even if it was possible for their fb score to be mostly red; you'd never know it until after they'd already bid and won... so a bidder's "rep" is totally meaningless under the current ebay system.

And for those who argue "What if I want to start selling at some point? I need a good FB rep for that."... savvy buyers look at how feedback scores are built; if you're merely buying a lot of cheap stuff to pad your numbers it will show because ebay now breaks down FB by "FB as a seller/FB as a buyer/ FB left for others". So that as-a-buyer feedback won't help you when selling anyway. Thus, I reiterate- feedback means absolutely nothing to a buyer.

As far as our policy, it has remained unchanged for 14 years; we usually pick one day a week to reciprocate all feedback received (if we're listing a lot of items, that is-otherwise we reciprocate as it comes in/ daily/whatever). So- OP, in your case we'd never have a problem because you actually leave feedback.

But- for some buyers even daily isn't good enough... they want it as soon as their payment hits (and one time, a buyer demanded we leave it BEFORE they paid!). People like that, I make a point of letting them wait before leaving fb-call it vindictive if you wish but we prefer to call it making a statement... and in the case of the feedback extortionist, we got him booted for it. If they don't like our policy, let'em block us all they want; they likely already have been by us for being jerks anyway. I don't need or want idiots for customers and I don't need to smooch anyone's hiney to get feedback from them.

In the end, I'm here to sell stuff, not feedback... and it seems that those who whine about getting it the most are the ones for whom it means little to nothing anyway. So relax and save the drama for something important.

Feedback on ebay is a joke....Buyers should not get feedback in the first place....a buyer with 1000 FB when he tries to sell means nothing other than to the lemmings that think feedback means something. FB should be as a seller only....that being said, the whole FB is nothing more than a gimmick to get people excited

As a seller, I leave FB immediately....the buyer is done when he has paid me....he does NOT have to leave me FB, he does NOT have to let me know he received the item, he does NOT have to do anything else in the transaction. As a buyer, honestly, I will leave it when I get around to it or immediately if something is wrong, but also, I have left a total of 2 negs ever in almost 12 years of ebaying on the buy side.

IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY

I liked this coment and the kendergarten stars post. and this one.
"I'm blocking sellers for shipping in recycled mailers, cause they are being cheap, and I am blocking sellers for not using recycled mailers, cause they are being wasteful."

    Well fitting.

I also agree with most sellers now wait to leave feedback because they have nothing to protect themselves like buyers do. Period!
