Newish memeber with a few thank yous

Hi Everyone,
I'm stil relatively new to this board. It seems to have the usual on-line nuances which unfortunately involve some negativity and bickering which are unfortunate and not what the board was created for.
However, I just wanted to thank a few people who have gone well above and beyond what I expected and really show the good in people and make transactions made in a hobby that much more enjoyable

Thank you to

You have all been extremely courteous and provided very pleasurable transactions and or just communication/assistance with my questions.

If I could also provide an observation/suggestion - I have had a few members who have been very polite and pleasant to deal with but who have stated they do no ship to Canada. I realize there are risks associated with shipments to Canada from the US, however, 95% of my purchases are made from the USA and I have never had a problem - I do realize there are sometimes customs fees etc that I need to pay, but I as a buyer accept this and know it is part of the process. I would encourage any US sellers to consider shipping to Canada as for the most part, from what I have seen and been communicated the costs are slightly higher than shipping to the USA but otherwise similar. In any event if any members have any feedback on this or can adivse of why they have decided not to ship to Canada I would appreciate any responses to help educate myself and know what issues may exist out there than I am not aware of.

Sincerely
Jamie Gerber

Hello Jamie and welcome to the boards!

I have been primarily a buyer on eBay, but I have given up selling to other countries, including Canada.

Recently becoming unemployed, I have resorted to selling much more than in the past. Most of the items I sell are cards. EBay requires me to get them to the buyer safely, ship by their required service with delivery confirmation and to provide insurance if the value of the item deems it for MY protection. No problem.

The newer eBay regulations state that if I do not do this and the item is "lost" (or the buyer says he/she never got it), my PayPal account will be deducted the amount of the item. I am not going to put myself in this position, ever.

Shipping overseas by the required manner is very expensive, to Canada not as much, but still more than most are willing to pay. The last time I checked it was about $8.00 to ship one card to Canada with the proper delivery confirmation.

I have offered every potential buyer the option to pay with a money order and I would ship the item cheaply (ah the good old days) and every one of them declined. This raises a huge red flag to me as if they are not willing to take a chance, why should I?

Most of my items are low dollar items. I would love to increase my selling area outside the U.S. Any suggestions?

    Again, welcome!

    You are welcome Jamie.

I occasionally ship to Canada, but it always necessitates a trip to the post office - versus print at home and mail at work. Might be another reason people don't always do it.
