A few vintage sets have finally seen the light of day. I bought a 1965, 1968, 1970, 1973 and 1975 to

Well, I have been flipping newer singles/rookies/packs the past few months on eBay just as a hobby to see how much I could make for my trip to the National. This endeavor keeps me totally away from busting high dollar boxes and is something I really enjoy(the art of the deal).
For whatever reason, I really enjoy working on deals and it is somethinig I have not done for several years now and forgot how much I enjoy it.
Well, at the local card show today I was able to buy these sets with my intial investment sixty days ago or so + the profit from two seperate deals I have done in the past sixty days.
I will add scans later this afternoon.
(1) 1965 Topps baseball set Overall EX-MT+/NRMT-(the centering is amazing on most sets. The corners on some have slight wear or the back edges have touches of white)
(1) 1968 Topps baseball set Overal NRMT (both of these two sets are really well centered except Ryan). The 1968 set is just high grade in my opinion.
(1) 1970 Topps baseball set Overall EX-(the Rose, Bench and Ryan are what I consider NM-MT, however, the overall range is probably EX-
(1) 1973 Topps baseball set Overal EX-MT with some looking like PSA 8 quality
(1) 1975 Topps baseball set Overall NR-MT with some blazers in these set as well.
(1) 1974 Topps #1 Hank Aaron PSA 8(he subbed from his collection awhile ago)
(1) 1976 Topps Hank Aaron PSA 8 (he subbed from his collection awhile ago).
I will go through the whole lot today and tonight and take some pictures as I go if anybody is even interested in seeing pictures.
Just excited to pick up some cool vintage sets.
Here is a few pictures.
1965 Topps set common average

1968 Topps set common average

I love these old style binders from when I was a kid.

1970 Topps stars(better condition than most of the set)

1973 Topps Rose on top in a top loader in set box

1975 Topps average condition

The 1974 and 1976 Aaron PSA submitted cards from his collection.

Just went through the 1973 set and it is even better than I thought.
It is pretty much NRMT with plenty of PSA 7/8 quality cards with 5% that is mint and 5% that needs to be upgraded.
Here is a few scans.

Starting to go through the 1968 Topps set and some of the commons are PSA 9 quality. The stars to this point seem in great shape but somewhat OC.

The Nolan Ryan rookie is OC but the Bench is pretty good.

The Yaz is a lock for a PSA 9 or 10 if the centering is acceptable. The card is flawlesss.

That is all the 1968 scans and after scanning the set quickly this set is at least a NR-MT set in my opinion.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
Awesome purchase.

<< <i>You got a great deal. The 1965 and 1968 sets are worth more than that alone. >>
I sure hope you are correct. I have added some scans of the 1968 set so let me know what you think of the condition on that set.
<< <i>Congrats on the pickups. I love the inside look on these kind of deals.
You gonna keep them all in binders or try getting some graded? >>
Thanks Paul. I will be happy to share any of the deals I work with ya.
My plan at the moment is to sell the Aaron PSA 8's and all the newer shiny stuff in my collection, cello packs with stars etc. to fund my trip to the National and try and hang on to these sets for now.
Of course, if I got an offer I felt I couldn't refuse I would take it and move on to the next deal.
With that said, I like the way sets look in binders. I would try to upgrade the few that need it at the National.
My plan will be to get anything graded that I think will grade really well(Anything that I think would get a PSA 8 or better and make financial sense to spend 5.00 to be graded) and replace those with presentable NR-MT copies of the cards and spend the extra cash on the graded cards to upgrade the small percentage of the cards that need to be replaced.
Great looking 74 Aaron too.

Thanks for the advice. You may be right. My plan is either to keep all the sets and work to upgrade the few cards in each set that need it over time or to sell all the sets except the 1965 Topps set and work on that set over the next year or so. I am pretty certain I am going to keep the 1965 set at this point unless somebody wanted it alot worse than I do.
If I sell them I may just cosign them with either PWCC or Probstein.
