Superior is auctioning that off aren't they? I went to their website...what a waste of time. Its as if they are trying to make their site as useless as possible. I know I've seen the info somewhere, but now I can't find it. GRRRR!!!

Do not fall into the error of the artisan who boasts of twenty years experience in his craft while in fact he has had only one year of experience... twenty times.
I think is going up for auction it the pre-long beach sale. I for one will be glad to see this set go. It's just a short term "Hype" and "Flip" set. I wonder when the Lincoln set will be "hyped" and "Flipped" too?

The IH set of the same name and circumstances is going in the pre-Long Beach as well. You won't be able to preview either online until it appears on Ebay. I agree Superior's website is comprised of almost nothing. They now have state of the art imaging but desperately need to upgrade their site with features such as an archive, like B&M, Goldberg & Stacks have recently done (and Heritage always has).
Spooly's comments are way off the mark and inappropriate. I happen to know that John Karmoff built his Indian and Lincoln sets over a period of 4 to 5 years but recently decided to sell them because of personal circumstances.
He never had any desire to list his sets in the registry while he was actively collecting, but decided to do so prior to his sale for two reasons: (1) he feels it leaves a permanent record of his collection and (2) it probably will increase interest in his auctions. He has every right to do that. And people who are interested in finding good quality coins should be glad he did.
I know a lot of people who are not interested in listing their sets in the registry while they are collecting, but I think that they would be very foolish not to list them prior to sale.
I can't vouch for the Indians in Karmoff's collection, but I have seen a number of the Lincolns and can say that there are many nice coins in that set.
Is this the same Superior in Los Angeles? The one that was owned by TAGZ? If so I drove by there twice yesterday and no longer saw the TAGZ sign on the outside. Did they sell it or just not want their name tainting it?
As I own each and every one of these Indians (and the Lincolns as well) I would be quite interested in comparing the facts with you. In the interim, Gerry has quite accurately and articulately described the situation I am facing--hence my interest in registering and ultimately selling the collection. Quite frankly, until I assembled the entire collection for auction I was unaware of its position on the registry. That was never my goal; as a collector for the past thirty years, assembling an exceptional small cent collection was.
I also never purchased a coin in the entire set without showing it to Angel Dee's. Andy Skrabalak has a tremendous eye for and a deep understanding of copper, and I would have never been able to assemble the collection (which is based on the coins themselves as opposed to plastic) without his assistance. He was gracious and helpful at every step of the way. Even more importantly I was able to trust him implicitly. Hence the reason I chose to express my appreciation and acknowledgment of his expertise and integrity by adding the name of Angel Dee's to the title of the collection. He and his wife, Alyn, helped build it and deserve the credit.
Thanks for your interest. I hope you have the chance to view the collection at some stage.
Good luck with the sale and eagerly look forward to seeing this IH set. I think the main question here was Steve Deeds of Superior registering the set prior to sale -- or at least it's his email address, not yours -- using a dealer name as part of the registrant name. You can understand the confusion and raised eyebrows under these circumstances. I'm still kind of confused but when it comes right down to it care only about the coins themselves as I'm sure you do. Congrats on a tremendous accomplishment and let the bids fly.
Thanks for your kind words; and my situation is more around lifestyle change (returning to teaching) rather than health but thanks for your concern. And Robert, as I bought some of the coins from you, you know the calibre. In any case, I'm certain I'll keep working on my raw collection which was always my true love anyway.
Regarding Steve Deeds registering the set: he did it as a favor to me because I was travelling quite a bit at the time we decided to regsiter. Although I had never had much luck or interest in using an auction house, Steve has shown himself to be very professional and quite relaible and trustworthy in this process. In fact, it was he who actually told us that the Indians were a fairly good set in the first place.
Again, I appreciate your comments and support. And I hope you have the chance to pick up some of these coins. I would really like for them to find nice homes.
jk I don't know you,but I have known Andy for about (5) years and have done business with him myself. His expertise with Lincolns is astonishing. If he assited you with the set I'd say it is a truely wonderful set.I wish you luck. The Lincolns do seem to be in great demand.I've noticed it with my Lincoln Proofs as well.
Well said jk and good luck with your sale, it must of been a trip owning that set. I too am a long time collector of IHC's and have been selling my slabbed coins, in favor or my raw collection. Btw I considering returning to teaching, it's that stage of life, I guess where you feel it's time to give back, anyway good luck!

Hope your personal circumstances are not medical in nature.
Good luck! Hope you come back to collecting!
