Thought the 2nd out of the 8th was ball 4 in a tight game w/o history riding...but I guess you give it to him in that situation.

LOL - us central valley folk are right at the dividing line. I'm surrounded by Giants fans in my household, while my wife's first cousin's family is purely Dodger blue. Makes for an interesting time.

My brother in law was there tonight...lucky shmuck.
  • Headlines: Talk that Cain's performance may be one of the best Perfect Game's of all time. Tied Koufax from 65 with the most strike outs.

To keep it card related wonder how many Cain's RC's sold last night?

Congrats to you Giants fans. image

Who pissed in your corn flakes? Why do you care if people are excited about a no hitter? It's a pretty big deal given that there have only been 22 in the history of baseball.
  • Just something very unsettling about his whole demeanor

Are you Friggin serious with that comment? You must have less of a heart than The Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz. Mike's way of dealing with his wife's passing should be none of your business. Everyone deal's with grief differently. THAT comment should be reason enough for your new ALT to be banned as well.

Your punctuation is very familiar to me... hmmm... image

Anyway, I really don't have a problem with alts. It's just when the alt's prime objective is to speak negatively all the time. I mean really, so you got bammed... who cares if you create an alt... just don't use it as an anonymous way to bitterly blast people. Grow some balls.

You obviously don't have a heart if your judging someone for how he copes with tragedy. Everyone grieves differently. Staying busy is the way I would do it and I can't think of a better way to do it than sports and cards.

Ok, I don't have any skin in this whole "catch the alt" process, or in the personal lives of any members, but I'm curious.

Could you explain to me why someone who apparently just joined in April already has such an emotional investment in the "tone" that another member exhibits and how it isn't "right"??

  • i've been reading this board since 2000 ... when it took a week for posts to get to the 2nd page
even had an i,d. from back then
stopped reading after our daughter was born in 2001

for the past few years, I check once in a while

    no mysteries here

I saw this guys posts about his wife
    read the whole thing
and was struck by how he could just continue the same old, right afterwards
didnt post anything, because i wasnt registered
... did you ever see anything negative in that post ???
    no alts here friend

I just saw his freaking excitement of a stupid game, and i was just amazed
and I'll repeat again ... are his kids so freakin'excited ???
I think the whole thing is wrong
and so is the whole "being brave" / "dealing in his own way" BS

he came on this board with his story, so feedback is also fair

One of the things you fail to realize is that Mike began to focus on the card market for not just fun and a hobby but for an income too.

He tends to focus on the entire card market including ripping lots of new product that many of us don't and much of that product can change in value do to the current performance of the players.

I don't know for certain but I believe much of his excitement in many cases is driven from there being positive news surounding some of the pro athletes he has chosen to invest in via their cards and the belief that this will have a positive impact on the prices.

I can't speak for Mike but if I put a lot of hot money on a case of cards hoping to pull some modern rarities I would be excited too when they did well as that market can have wild swings and if profit is the primary motive you better hope they do well.

If you bought a stock for a trade and it began to run it is only human nature to get excited about the profit. The same can be said about cards.

  • Your just a sorry cold person, I'm sorry your life is that miserable.

You would be the one that would turn into an alcoholic, or in a home. I choose to provide for my children. I get to stay at home and raise them and sportscards provides my income right now.

And my kids and I had a wonderful dinner last night, we prayed, talked about Michelle, cried a bit, and asked God to give us strength, and thanked him graciously for the time we had, and we pray for people like you. Who are less fortunate. Doesn't have to be monetary, class fits that category.

Then we ate popcorn and grapes, and watched Journey to the Center of the earth 2. Cuddled on the couch blankets and all. I tucked them in, had a nice call with CPAmike, then Sportscenter. Oh and then I saw a No-No in progress. Thought I would share so others who maybe weren't watching could witness it live. Because I care about people and sports. The good people in the world have to make up for the waste products of life. Unfortunately there is always someone.

Current sporting events, players, stats, etc are very crucial when selling cards. You'll see some nice Harpers at auction now. Good thing I follow sports. I'm doubling up on those. I have to make money this is how I support my family.

What do you do for living? What positive things do you do with your life?

And the money thing awhile back was wrongfully accused I've watched the boards since 2000. Just spoke to that person earlier. And that mOney has been donated and then some to many people including several charities that board members have here.

You don't think I have a tough time? You don't think some days it's just hard survive mentally? Cards, this forum, the incredible members here helped me especially last year, and continue to, to this day. I'm sorry I choose not to go out, be irresponsible, and go insane. I don't have a choice.

Church weekly, counciling weekly, bible study once a week a lunchtime, I coach baseball, I play golf when I can, just started a new workout program. And sometimes I get caught, feel down, awful, alone. But there are so many positive people in my life, that truly impact my life. I donate time to the Komen Foundation, talk to other men that have sick wives with breast cancer.

Make judgements all you want. You don't know me, who I am, what I do. Again I'm sorry your life is such a mess you need to attack and belittle others. If you feel like that's your best, well good for you. You sound extremely immature, and again I offer you to be a man and call me. Maybe you can learn what a life is like when you lose a young spouse who was 31. I hope it never happens to you, I forgive your ignorance and I'll pray that you may be able to impact people in a Postive way. But that may be my ignorance not knowing you.

I hope you feel better after sharing your opinion. You don't upset me one bit. It's people like you that inspire me to make a difference in this world.

Edit: and the reason I couldn't talk till after 1:30 is someone I grew close with that helped my family the last several years had blood Cancer come back. You wanna here tough? My friend Kyle lost his wife to brain cancer, his wife today lost her husband to pancreatic cancer. They met at a cancer support group. They got married and he has had cancer for the last 3 years. Imagine what they go through, his poor wife with her second husband has cancer. He lost his wife to cancer and he has it. Can you imagine???

He and my wife where both bald from chemo at the same time. He was going through chemo bringing food to us last year. There are amazing people in this world, I hope you know some, meet some...

I'm grateful everyday and take nothing for granted. I hope you have a great day. image
