Topps Super Cellos late 70s early 80s

Probstein just listed a bunch of nice ones, however, I find them in general just so unappealing. Obviously the fact that PSA won't slab them hurts, but I just can't get over the odd packaging. Others feel the same way or am I missing something.

Also, i was of the age just a little too young to be buying these so I have on firsthand memory of them

I love them. They are scarcer than regular cellos and contain more cards with no gum stains.

hows the overall quality of card corners? the packaging is looser than the tight 70s cellos right?

Topps produced baseball super cellos from 1979 to 1981. The 79s are tightly wrapped like cellos from that era. The 80 and 81 cellos are loosely wrapped.

  • As a star pack collector i cherish star super cellos most simply because you ony have one shot at a star showing in the pack!!
in regular cellos you have 2 shots and in rack packs you have 6 shots to easy, now the only super cello with 2 sides is the
original issue which was the extremely rare rare rare 1978 topps football about 10-12 years ago i sold one with Payton on top
    for $5000

It seems like the 79s are advertised much less. The 1980 seems the most. Has anyone found a different card sequence with these packs? how rare are these packs?

The 79 baseball super cellos are very tough to find. I purchased a full box about 10 years ago and haven't seen one for sale since, although you will see auctions for individual packs now and then. Steve used to have them in stock a few years back--I bought about half a box from him during that time. Unlike the 1980 super cellos, they are very tightly wrapped like regular 79 cellos.

If you open the outside cello pack, would psa grade the pack then or is it considered altered because the outer pack was opened?

Super cellos have one wrapping like regular 79 cellos but PSA does not grade them due to size.
