St. Louis Sports Collectors Show Opinions?

I live in KC, about 4 hours from St. Louis, and I'm contemplating making a trip to this show. But I hate to travel all that way to find what I collect to be in short supply, or find it's all modern stuff and beaten up, overpriced vintage. I was wondering if any of you have been there and can comment on the quality and quantity of vintage cards?

I specialize in '52 topps, PSA-5-7 range, and my Dad collects 57 - 63 Topps in the 6-8 grade range. I'd like to know how well those cards are represented at the show, if at all?

Thanks!

BR

  • I would to know as well. I have some nice 52s raw on ebay and may have some nice 57-63s. I do have a relatively large group of 1958 Topps coming in Monday that have some EXMT singles. I live just north of St. Joseph.

I'm a vintage dealer from the Chicago area and drive 5 hours to set up at that show occasionally. From a dealer's perspective it is an excellent show because it brings in a nice size crowd and quite a few vintage set builders. I was there last weekend and there were quite a few vintage dealers, even a guy who drove 8 hours from Alabama. Most vintage dealers were selling raw, myself included. There are a couple of guys with graded. Tony Schaefer of Monster Cards as an excellent selection of PSA/BGS graded cards. He won't be at the July show, but I think he'll be back for August. I have a blog and some photos from the last show at www.fatdaddyssports.com. My recommendation to you is to go but make a weekend of it, hit the show and a Cardinals game.
