I understand that this is a semi-rare set, and this is probably the most desirable card in the whole set. But with a pop 10, why is this card that much, with a day to go no less?

There have been several threads over the past year dedicated to this set. This set has always been popular..I'm still amazed that more people aren't more aware. The Chipper card has roughly doubled in value over the past 24 months in psa 9. It was a $250 card in '09 and '10 and its really a $500 - $550 card right now, likely more for good centering. .I'm not surprised that the 10 will sell around $5k. Unfortunately for the seller, he choose a bad time to sell this, given that 2 others are also on Ebay right now. 4SC's $6k BIN sets a ceiling for what this seller can expect to get.
I love this card, but can't really justify the $5k price this will likely fetch. Yes Chipper will be a 1st ballet HOF and yes this is his best card by far and I can't see the 10 population getting much higher than it is now... However, until there are another 25 to 35 people actively working on putting the set together OR until people start collecting Chipper cards (too scary for most), this feels more like a $1,500 - $2,500 card to me right now. I guess there are people who are niether DS collectors, not CJ registry participants who just want to own 1 copy of his best card. Aren't those the same type that usually flip the card in a year or 2 to buy something else?
