zero feedback bidder making an offer

I'm not really an anti-zero feedback person because everyone has to start somewhere but this one has me scratching my head a bit

Have a card at $49.95 OBO. I get an offer for $35 that I normally would accept but I see he's a zero so I look at his account - Joined June 6th and between June 6th and 7th has won 41 items ranging from 99 cents to $85 probably totaling close to $1000. Yet he still has zero feedback. That's kinda telling me he hasn't paid for any of it yet. I'd figure at least 1 of the sellers would have left him feedback. I realize it's only been 2 days since this all started but my cynicism has me thinking he's just gonna get himself over his head and it's gonna be a waste of my time expecting him to pay.

I didn't block him but declined the $35 offer and last night he made a $40 offer LOL

tough call but I think I'm just gonna let the offer expire unless I see him get at least a couple feedbacks before the 48 hours is up. Sucks cause I could use the $40 more than I could use the card

  • I would accept the offer. Sometimes it takes a few days for new members to get everything in order with paypal. Worst case scenario you wait 8 days to get your final value fees refunded and then relist.

    Decline and block him.

I have had many 0 feedback buyers recently, and they all rack up tons of purchases in a few days and never pay for any of them.

Kids are out of school now. Doesn't this kind of activity ramp up every summer?

  • Or you can just tell him to pay your directly through paypal as "gift" and once payment is made, you will remove the listing and send it out to him. I think that's fair.

If you revise your listing and go to the "Decide how you'd like to be paid" section, click the box that says: "Require immediate payment when buyer uses Buy It Now". This way the buyer will have to pay for it, well, immediately. The item will stay listed until it is paid for.

That doesn't work when accepting a best offer though

Then the OP can revise the item, Make it 40 bucks, no best offer. Click the immediate payment button. Tell the zero feedback guy it is available for purchase. Give him 24 hours to buy it. If he doesn't, change the listing back. If someone else buys it, no harm.

I'd change it to a BIN listing with immediate Payment. See if he's still interested.

OK Good idea, just did that but it made me deal with his offer before it would let me revise it so I had to decline his second offer and sent it with a message saying "listing was changed to $40.00 with immediate payment required"

    thanks for the tips
  • This guy put in the effort to submit another offer after you rejected his first offer. That suggests he will probably follow through.

I echo what Michael said, I've had a lot of zero feedback bidders buy quite a bit only to stiff me lately too.
From what I can tell, 707 is the DOLLAR STORE compared to deans_cards. For what that guy charges, if I ever bought anything from him I would expect it to be delivered to me in a frickin' limo.

I have sold to zero feedbackers probably hundreds of times since being on eBay and have, knock on wood, never ONCE had a problem. Money is money. As a seller, I couldn't care less where it comes from.

I generally do not question a zero feedback bidder, but as the payment drags on will be more cynical on whether I get paid or not. Under NO circumstances do I allow bidders with negative feedback to buy

my zero buddy has ignored the $40 BIN but added 3 more items to his list of unpaid things for a grand total of 44 items.

    Still has zero feedback

    sportscardtheory can have this guy
  • cardbendercardbender Posts: 1,831 ✭✭
The zero FB guy could be playing you, but in the past I've had
auctions won by zero feedback buyers for $2100 and $5700
and both newbies paid for their wins. Everyone starts at
    zero on ebay.

Although them winning tons of cards over a short period
of time and not registering any feedback for payment is
worrisome and a red flag. They might not have a paypal
account set up yet and could be mailing payments in or
could be waiting to get confirmed on their new paypal acct.
    Time will tell.

In the meantime you might sell your card for $40 to
someone else and get paid right a way.

How about a NPB line included with the feedback number instantly signaling they have had a NPB fee refund against them. Sellers could block NPB's greater than 1. I hate Non Paying Bidders.
