Which is Tom Glavine's best pack-released true rookie card?
![sportscardtheory](https://us.v-cdn.net/6027503/uploads/userpics/684/nBHDXQE4R1HQX.png)
I'm fairly certain that a large majority of us would agree that Glavine will be a Hall of Famer, either first-ballot or a couple to a few years at the most.
Which pack-released true rookie card will be the "one to have" when all is said and done?

Today the Topps card seems to be worth more in PSA 10 ($30s).
IMHO, his Score card is the nicest looking of the bunch. A good action shot and a little bio on the back.
I think the Topps card is the ugliest though. Just check out that grill!

If you want "most valuable" Glavine rookie card, then you'll find it as a "rookie parallel" or whatever in the 1988 Score Glossy or 1988 Topps Tiffany sets.

Because that is the question I asked.
<< <i>I thought this would have went easily to the Fleer. Certainly not hard to find in any capacity, but comparatively to it's competition, it's probably his "rarest" rookie card of the four. >>
You're not alone in your thinking. Glavine's 1988 Fleer card is the most heavily submitted card of ALL his cards. 2111 of this card has been graded by PSA, 669 by BGS, and 306 by SGC.
However, in PSA 10, they sell for between $10 and $20.
So, it's his most popular to get graded, but his cheapest to buy if you went on Ebay to get one.

I don't know. Even to this day, 1988 Fleer just seems to be the "best" base '88 set. When you look at eBay, there are always countless lots containing his Donruss, Score and Topps RCs and always far less of the Fleers. Even 1988 Fleer boxes/cases outsell all the rest. Regardless of grading, I am still sticking with the Fleer personally. I really don't get why the Score is on the set registry as his best RC. That card has always undersold the Fleer.
Always buying Bobby Cox inserts. PM me.
<< <i>Every time there's a Glavine thread I pop up like a troll, ready to show off my card. >>
You have every right to. It's easily his best card in existence and when he makes the Hall, it will only rise in value.
<< <i>What does a Glavine like that generally sell for and what is the story behind it? >>
Pretty sure they were a test release printed by Topps, but were never officially released. Very limited amount out there. They were only found in uncut sheet form, so they have to be cut for singles. PSA doesn't grade them, so the BGS Gem is likely the best you will find.
What kind of price could one expect to pay for that card?

<< <i>I'd also like to know estimated print run. Are we talking 50 or 500? >>
I really don't know for sure, but I have heard 50-100.

That seems to be about right. I'd put it closer to 50, but I don't think anyone really knows for sure.
Put "Cloth" into the search bar and you'll get a few threads talking about 88 Cloth.
As far a Pack pulled goes, I'd go for the 88 Score. I always thought it was more visually appealing than the others.
There's always the 87 Sportflics Braves team previews that pre-dates all of the above.

+1 Unless 12 players on a card are too much.

$2.46 for a PSA 10?? Yeah, I'll take a 1988 Topps all day long.

<< <i>Did you triple dog dare him to lower his price? >>
I did but he said something about his "Dog" being triple the size of mine so the price was "Firm".
This was before I learned about his "Adult" acting career.

Very cool cards, but they have 3 problems going for them:
1) PSA won't grade them, thus no registry demand.
2) PSA won't grade them, thus no registry demand.

Don't they grade other hand-cut cards? Why not these, I wonder. They were never released cut, so you would think that cutting them and having them graded would be acceptable.

I'm not sure I agree with this statement. If there was a ryan in the lot I would buy it up in a second and then get a lot of money back by reselling the rest of the set.

The Ryan would be a great card, but whether or not there is a Ryan in the lot has nothing to do with my comment.

This is not a real RC, but its cool IMO nonetheless. Topps did a promotional day with the Braves a few years ago and all of the tickets for 1 day had Braves Topps cards attached to the top of the ticket. The '88 Topps replica Glavine is my favorite that was produced. There is also a Bobby Cox.

I remember these. Pretty wild to see this at $176.
Unless you pulled it yourself. The other three could come from
vending or factory.

Given the popularity and rarity of Glavine's 86 Procards, and also considering the existence of a small number of 88 Cloth Glavine RCs, I think there are at least 2 better alternatives for die-hard Glavine collectors to own.
I don't view the 88 Tiffany as being anywhere near a $400 card. I'd much rather have an 86 Procards in psa 8 or 9.
Always buying Bobby Cox inserts. PM me.
Got a GU bat and auto ball along with way too many RCs. I also have an 800 ct. box of Topps 2nd year cards.
I made a purchase years ago with a guy and he threw in the 800 ct. box.
IMO, one of the top lefties to grace the mound of ML baseball.
Would like to get a GU jersey of his too.
