For you Shill detectives....1959 PSA 8.5 Mays

Got to be a shill right. Card was sold in April for a very strong price. Is now being sold again. I noticed that the card had very similar wording in the description. What pisses me off...is that I was the underbidder and would have gotten the card for a nice price as there was a big difference in the bids. The wording is the key element for me. The completed auction is the most recent on VCP.

Thanks for the link. So what do you detectives think? Gotta be a shill.... right?

what about a link to the auction you are talking about? Where you got outbid.

Doesn't look like a schill to me, just somebody who wants to try and flip it after purchasing it for a rich price. Top two bidders in previous auction have little/no activity with seller. He did copy/paste previous sellers description for the most part. Not sure there's anything nefarious here.

Looks like a flipper to me. Thought it was a 9 and thinks its a stright grade after having it in hand I guess so he just wants his money back.

so it went from Elwood, IN to Daly City, CA and now the buyer is trying to flip it with an opening bid which is lower than his purchase price......after fees, etc. he'd be taking a loss with only that opening bid.

doesn't look like shilling, necessarily, but certainly not a prudent way to flip a vintage card.

    i agree with Dan.

Doesnt look wrong what hes doing. If the card graded a 9 what would be the profit to gain? A few thousand? What is his loss if it wont bump? maybe 100.00.
He gambled is what I think.
No wrong in taking a 100.00 loss.

Looks legit. Probably tried to bump it and lost, so now it's whoever buys its turn
From what I can tell, 707 is the DOLLAR STORE compared to deans_cards. For what that guy charges, if I ever bought anything from him I would expect it to be delivered to me in a frickin' limo.

Look at the wording style of the auctions. They're basically the same. People don't write and talk alike.

yeah, but a knucklehead who overspent might use the same approach to find another knucklehead just like himself. image

getting closer to a complete solution here......in early April the seller bought this:

Learn Microsoft Excel 2010 and Financial Analysis Skills Using Excel Training

all of his other recent purchases have been sports related, mostly from pretty recognizable names in the eBay seller community.

i think this dude needs to spend some more time improving those financial analysis skills. image

Sense you bid 801. Would you still bid 795 after all of this?
  • Mickey71Mickey71 Posts: 4,259 ✭✭✭✭
    No.

The card looks very high end and looks like a 9. But 2 people seem to want to sell it fast after they got it. So I would agree with you dan and be happy you didnt win it.
Looks like you won on this one.
    Wait for the next one.
