How much would you pay for a *piece* of a Bronko Nagurski RC?

This 1935 National Chicle Bronko Nagurski RC just popped up on ebay. It looks to be in extremely rough shape, possibly burned, ripped, and eaten(?), though it looks otherwise authentic to me. Would PSA even slab this as Authentic? Is there any criteria, kind of like how much of a dollar bill you must have in order to get money for it?

Or, card companies could buy this one and chop it up into pieces for other cards. image

PSA most likely will not slab this card since too much of it is missing. SGC will also not likely slab it either although there is a slightly better chance they will do. However, Beckett will very likely slab the card. Whenever I have a card that is too fragile or in too poor of a condition for PSA or SGC to slab it, I send it to Beckett. Frankly, I think these beaters deserve to be slabbed, and I wish PSA would do it.

For a thousand more you can get a whole card in a PSA 1 holder

  • Doubtful they would grade it Authentic. Not because it's missing a piece, but because it isn't authentic

<< <i>Hi end cards in that type of condition on eBay usually aren't authentic and the damage usually isn't accidental. >>

That was my original thought as well. It could be legit but this disclaimer doesn't help his case in my opinion:

<< <i>I have had these cards since a mid-80's basement renovation unearthed them from a wall in a house that was built in the mid-1930's. Our guess is that one of the builders bought the pack for the gum and threw the cards away in the wall! >>

So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

I know that usually when you see high-end cards that have been mangled, it is done to cover up or age a reprint or counterfeit. But, in this case, I'm pretty familiar with this card (I've owned 6 of them, including one raw submission) and this set and it looks like the right card stock (note the fraying fibers) and the right kind of printing.

In any case, I agree that there's probably not enough card here to get an AUTH from PSA or SGC. Not familiar with Beckett enough to say.

I agree that it "appears" authentic.
