Question about 2012 Topps

Ok guys fill me in here because I guess I don't understand, the series 2 and Topps archives Bryce Harper cards are selling for over
200 bucks on ebay. These are base cards right? I know they are short printed, but what does that mean? Surely they have printed thousands or even tens of thousands......no?

Could be, but no one knows but Topps, and that info is kept secret.
There's always a lot of hype surrounding new products and exciting new players, and this hype creates a strong demand, especially since the fact that the full print run of these cards is not yet on the market in single form. Many are still hiding in unopened packs. As more and more product gets opened, the early-adopters will get their fill and the prices will come down.
