A historic day for the Butler collection

Seriously... another Butler thread? Yeah, sorry to tear you away from really good eBay/postage/feedback threads image

So anyway, a couple of guys told me they thought they saw that my Butler collection had been featured in the latest Beckett. I was pretty sure that wasn't the case, 'cause I hadn't heard back from Chris Olds after our last email contact in mid-April. I went on over to the Beckett forum and saw Chris had posted on Saturday asking for "SuperCollectors". I shot Chris an email asking whether I had a shot at making that issue, and he emailed right back that I was actually on page 33 of the June 2012 issue.

Hustled on down to Barnes & Noble, and sure enough:

Very cool --- you should make a copy on some quality paper and send it to him to sign.

thanks, everyone! I was on a bit of a cloud late yesterday. First the jersey, then I find out about the writeup.

This is the picture I would have preferred to be printed... I'm not a big fan of pictures with me in them, but apparently that's part of the deal with Beckett's features.

Thanks for sharing the love with Mike's great write-up. Another awesome collection!!!

Geordie, I think if Butler was in the HOF, your article would have been in color too. image

And I like the Mets connection with both players too. image

Sorry if I've missed previous insight but what's the deal with him adding a image ? Don't get me wrong, it's very cool, just wondering if there's a back story.

    Congrats again, Geordie!

while the Mets connection is cool, the Dodgers connection is mo' betta'! image They were teammates on the '91 Dodgers - Butler wasn't a Met until '95.

No, you didn't miss anything, just grinning to see some Mets love even if I have to share it with the Dodgers. They did originally come from here so all is good.

I guess that Braves jersey won't be the only thing to get signed when the Reno Aces come to visit Geordie in August.

in reality, the Kid and Butler have a connection that goes back further than the Dodgers. They both wore the abomination that is the S.F. Giants uniform in 1990. In fact, all four of the players on that magazine cover wore black & orange at some point in their career. The only one I haven't quite forgiven yet is Hershiser. It seems that most Giant fans refuse to recognize his tenure, too.

I'm going to have to give this some thought. A pumpkin has been done. Need to raise the bar a little. Stay tuned.

Strawberry was one of God's All Stars? lmao.

One of these things is not like the others,
One of these things just doesn't belong,
Can you tell which thing is not like the others
By the time I finish my song?

This collection is amazing Son and I hope you can both enjoy this, and find a goal in your life to achieve something like I have done. Nobody else has done this, and the collection is now yours"

Son: "Thank You Daddy ! I will cherish this until I pass it along to my Son. Can I see some of it now ?

Father: "No Son this one waits, but you will understand when you receive it'

Son: "Thank you very much daddy. I love the sports greats.. Jordans, Pujols, Aaron's, Mantles's, Ruth's, etc. I will take care of these until I pass them down myself. I Promise I wil not sell'

Father: " well Son, you know that, and no you won't 'sell', it can't sell. It's an art Son, the art of personal collecting choices. You will understand, someday Son"

ssdixon: And the Son will understand. It might take a second or two (wtf ? brett butler ???? daddy ????) But he will get this. Congratulations on this feat.
