Qestion on ebay buyers who haven't picked up item from PO

The person who won a card from me hasn't picked up an item they won. I am sure it happens but it is the first time it happened to me. Has anybody had this happenm if so do we still get the money for the sale or do we have to go through selling the item all over again, once it is returned. Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks.

  • If they don't pick it up in time it will be returned to you and you'll have to refund them. I recently had this happen where I sent a package w/ sig. confrimation and the buyer never picked it up within the 15 business day window they hold it for. My package ended up being lost by the post office but luckily I had insured it so I received a check from USPS to cover the losses. It's very annoying if a buyer does this, unfortunately ebay will force you to refund them because they never actually picked up the package.

Yeah make sure you message the person letting them know it is sitting at their local office awaiting pickup, sometimes people miss the note or just outright forget.

As mentioned if they refuse to accept delivery and the item is returned to sender then yeah you are probably gonna be stuck refunding them. Now I wouldn't go out of my way to refund them, make them open up communication with you requesting the refund, or if they are a complete turd and open a not received complaint I would make them wait the full time allowed before refunding the turd.

Haha, I reminded the buyer at least 5 times up to a week and a half before the deadline. Seeing as how it never showed up I always thought perhaps they were in on it with the mailman......lol

On the flip side, as a buyer, I've almost had a package returned to the seller. The seller sent an under $200 item with signature confirmation. Sig. Confirmation means that my Post Office will not attempt delivery at my condo - at all, even if I'm at home or sitting in the lobby waiting for my mail carrier. They do not even take the package with them on their route, they just pink slip it. I've tried many, many times to schedule "redelivery" for Sig. Confirmation items and they won't do it. The website or phone number will confirm redelivery, but in reality, it will not get redelivered, so I have to pick it up in person. Well, in order to pick up an item, I have to go to my local post office between 9:30am and 5pm, hours that I just so coincidentally am at work, every day. So, picking up a package means I have to take off work at least a couple of hours in the morning to go pick up a package. If I'm out of town or just busy, then it is very easy for an item to sit long enough to be returned to the seller.

More likely it became part of the "benefits package" of a Post Office employee who figures they are going to get "theirs" one way or another. A package that no one is claiming with insurance on it is just screaming "take me" while it sits there on a shelf.
