Should I accept payment from other countries?

I have been selling a few things via ebay and am starting to get requests to send overseas.

My question is how could I send it to them and cover myself with Paypal?

Is it worth it?

The only USPS ways to send items overseas with Paypal-approved tracking are Express Mail International and GXG, both of which are expensive. EMI starts around $30, GXG is more expensive. Both include tracking and signature confirmation.

I very rarely have issues sending cheap items overseas ($20-$30 or less) without tracking. However, I hesitate to sell anything over $50 overseas without tracking, so I only do so with EMI.

I've been burned before, so I don't bother. Watch out for Italy in particular. That's where my scammer was from and I've heard similar horror stories about other buyers from Italy.

The thing that concerns is he keeps saying "Look at my feedback" . However, a seller can't neg you so that gives them more freedom to rip others off.

To me sending anything out of the country is too much of a hassle.

Agreed. Too many rules to learn, too many scams to watch out for..... and I am far too lazy of a person to 'do my homework' and maximize my chances of success for a couple extra bucks every now and then where it would actually make a difference. No thank you. There are a hell of a lot of people in the US; I'll stick with them.

I would probably be willing to make an exception in the case of selling something to an established CU forum member.

I have a Darvish type item that I know will get much more if I allow international shipping. My thought is to only do it if you use the express international and charge the $35 it will cost.

Honestly, I will sell overseas if the payer agrees to pay me with something other than paypal. I know its not their fault, but honestly, i would rather not deal with it than to take paypal and wait for the "Kong" to pay me a visit

There are a lot of collectors overseas that spend big money on players like Hideo,Yu,Ichiro and of course, Michael Jordan. It's a lot of work to figure out the correct way to send, insurance and even writing the address correctly.

If it's a lower priced item, I'd do it, but I would not ship outside the US for any purchase I'm not willing to lose in a scam.

It's a tough call. I've shipped all over and it is definetly more of a hassle to ship to certain countries. Also Paypal charges you significantly more for international payments. That is one reason I stopped selling hockey. All the best hockey buyers are in Canada and I hate having to go to the Post Office counter.

If you have certain Basketball cards and Japanese baseball, you almost have to ship to Asia if you want top $$$.

i would avoid the hassle unless you have really high end items...in whcih case you should just put them in an auction...if you had stamps/coins i'd ship overseas image
