auction to watch

Like Mr. Dpeck, I am fascinated to watch these high demand, semi-modern PSA 10 auctions. This particular card is wicked tough to find centered, both L/R and T/B. I'm guessing the hammer is at $650, a good deal higher than normal. Pop 3 last time I checked.

Great centering, but top edge looks flush with holder while bottom edge isn't close though? Top right corner doesn't look gem either. I'll guess $525.

No clue what these go for but an awesome looking George Brett!!!!
BBG if this is on your radar good luck!
Thehallmark thanks for posting. I love watching these low pop stunners. It is cards like this that make the hobby fun.
$643 and still reserve not met.
Maybe $1,000+???

<< <i>I love this card! I'd like to add all of Brett's cards from the 70's in PSA 10. BTW - I'm surprised the '79 is higher than the '78 Topps card. The '78 is a beast to find without the print defect and well-centered. >>
I stand corrected - the '78 is now higher than the '79.

<< <i>I would imagine it would be relatively difficult for PSA to determine if a card was sheet cut? With some of the pirces I see for PSA 10 HOF's, it seems buying uncut sheets and getting them professionally cut may be a good endeavor. NIce Brett! >>
From what I've heard - PSA is a lot better at detecting sheet cut cards that some other grading companies whose name starts with the letter Beckett.

I checked them earlier. It blows my mind that he's got reserves set that high!

AND overall "shape" of the card
I guess its ok to be longer on one end than the other
or shorter ... either way
<< <i>That card is sick!!! >>

The only recorded 1978 Topps - PSA 10 sold in an ebay auction 8/3/07 for $1,225.00
The only recorded 1979 Topps - PSA 10 sold in an ebay auction 11/13/06 for $589.00
Five or six years is a long time to wait for a competitive Brett collector to get their hands on a PSA 10 of one of these cards. They could both very well go for near 2K.
BTW, $589 for the PSA 10 1979 in 2006 was a steal for someone!

<< <i>Reserve auctions annoy me. Not that I'd never bid on one under any circumstances..... but it's behavior I would prefer not to reward. >>
I agree. If you have a bottom line, then start your auction with that # as an opening bid. Its almost as annoying as the BIN musuem sellers, but not quite.
Always buying Bobby Cox inserts. PM me.

Reserve not met!?!?! Sometimes we need to inject just a little common sense logic into these cards!

which is half of what Probstein would get. You don't impress me a bit.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
