Doubles 2004 - present what to do with them?

I have finally organized my cards so they are not spread out all over mutiple 5,000 count card boxes.

I have separated out the jersey/relic/auto cards.

So I have thousands of dupes of and have no idea what to do with them plus vending boxes from the early 80's that I basically went through and picked out the stars to get graded.

Should I put duplicate sets together and put them on ebay just to get a few bucks out of them?

I was thinking of getting a table at a local show but I know there is not a whole lot of traffic that comes through and they are all usually looking for high end auto / relic stuff.

Also I have dozens of graded cards gone bad with grades from PSA 7 through 9. These are mostly early 80's stuff.

Any thoughts? I have sold on sportlots in the past but this would be quite the undertaking to catalog all of them but not out of the question.

I started a similar project last weekend Cory. I'm just pulling all the stars. rookies prospects and dumping the rest. Only commons I'm bothering keeping is Heritage and Ginter from 2007 up.

I have so much crap, I have no idea what to do with it. Been meaning to ask the local cops if they want them to give to kids or something. Gotta be somewhere I can get rid of them besides the dumpster but don't really want to put much effort into it either. Someone's gonna need a good sized van to come get all this stuff though.

Put it on Craig's List. Somebody would probably give you a bit for them. If nothing else they may come get them from you. Then the cards are THEIR problem. image

Its tough. I put 2 5,000 could boxes on craigs list for free and a guy that runs a flea market came and got them but I would like to possibly get a few buck out of them. I might try the set route for a couple of the smaller sets but if that doesn't pan out I might go Zeps route.

For 2004 and newer, give them away. Just don't give them to me. image

I put together a lot of about 5-10k cards from 80's up and donated them to a guy I know that is a Boy Scout leader. He said he was able to contact Topps and they have some sort of package that includes supplies that they were going to send to them for free. I guess there is some type of collecting patch that they can get. Seemed like a good option rather than just giving them to a bar to use as coasters...... which I did that some years ago to and that went over pretty well.

Not necessarily supporting this charity. I do not know anything about them. The link is to show the types of places that would be interested in cards. >>

That is a great idea David. Thank you!
  • If you can donate them and get a receipt for their 'book value' you can save far more in taxes than you'd ever make selling them.
