Crossing a GAI graded pack to PSA

I have a 1975 Topps cello pack graded 8.5 by GAI. I am considering having it graded by PSA. Not concerned about whether it would be an 8 or a 9. My question is, if I submit it to PSA, should I take it out of the GAI holder first?

    Crack out without a doubt.

Thanks. I'll probably send it in if we do the group pack submission. The GAI holder is total crap compared to PSA's.

For wax packs, though, the GAI soft plastic design does a better job at preventing wrapper tears from moving gum. Personally I'd prefer a PSA holder with a bit less plastic.

    Me too.

I actually prefer the GAI holder because it displays the pack better. I have not crossed over my Global packs for this reason.

Most my wax packs have been damaged in the Psa holder with tears to the pack from the gum. Therfore, very little graded wax for me!

I guess I got lucky with the 2 wax packs I sent to PSA. They were 1977s and both came back undamaged. If we do the group submission, I will send some wax packs from BBCE group purchases. I know a few (like 1972 OPC wax) have the gum well fused into the first card so no concerns about gum sliding there.

    Good luck Daniel!

I should add that I don't go out and look for Global packs any longer because their brand name is not good.

What are the odds my gai packs are just opened already? I wouldn't mind losing a grade or two just to change the holder, but I'd hate to, send it in and then be told it's been opened.

aconte - I know about the fiasco with the early '70's "grocery" cellos slabbed by GAI and always on eBay.

What I have is a '75 pack graded by GAI. Should I have any concerns over its' authenticity? Like bigdcards, I'm not concerned abouyt losing a grade, just want to know the pack is legit.

All my GAI cellos that I have left are 1975 regular or mini's except some 1980 wax and some non-sport packs. My 75's have all been good. Hopefully, you will have no issues too.

I have a 1972 Topps FB 3rd series pack that is a GAI 9.5. The gum is broke in multipule loose pieces.
Will this hurt the PSA grading when crossed?

It will probably tear the wrapper in the PSA holder if the gum is loose like that, so I would keep it in the GAI holder, personally.

The pack also has the Namath In Action on the top of the pack, but it is not mentioned in the flip.
At some point I would like to get the pack in a PSA holder and the flip updated to show the Namath.
Will the broke gum hurt its grading? I'm not in a hurry to get it regraded, but what is the the safest way to get it to them?

I can't find it, but I thought the gum was supposed to be whole and slightly lose in the pack. Here is the link to the standards though. Packs are down the page a bit.
