question about #'s and stickers

If an auction company can lay claim to any wording or anything they use to sell an item after they sell that item, how do sticker peoples use the TPG generated cert or serial # as part of their service?

I think it's in the TPG companies best interest to let anyone use the cert #. If I own a coin, I think I own the cert number and use of it as well
