I'm with ambro51. It's comicial the fear some of the responders here have for the table saw. It's like all other power tools, you have to know how to use the tool and respect the tool at all times.
All of this wrapping in a towel and wacking with a hammer makes me cringe.
I just cracked out a morgan from an ICG slab with a pair of dykes and vicegrips... Got a small plastic cut across my palm for my efforts but did not scratch the coin.
This coin is temporarily free... (soon to be sent to PCGS) I was surprised to see much more luster now that it's raw.

it's totally fine. just wrap the slab in a towel and gently hit the side a time or two with a hammer...the slab cracks right open...the coin stays in the gasket untouched. i have done it plenty of time with no problems...all types of slabs too. works great.
I can't imagine using a power tool for something so simple.........
"My friends who see my collection sometimes ask what something costs. I tell them and they are in awe at my stupidity." (Baccaruda, 12/03).I find it hard to believe that he (Trump) rushed to some hotel to meet girls of loose morals, although ours are undoubtedly the best in the world. I place the slab sideways in a very large vice. I then throw a towel over it to protect against flying shards of plastic, and crank the vice down until I hear it go snap crackle and pop. Works like a charm every time.

I'll just stick with the table saw.
At least no one mentioned throwing it on a concrete floor as I've witnessed dealers doing at shows
