Mercury Dime Date question

This 1939 Mercury Dime has an anomaly to the right and upwards of the '9' in the date.
I know sometimes this can just be a photog lighting trick, but this one intrigues me to
at least ask for some opinions. It is not listed in the CPG and while the Treasure Hunting
MD book has many 1939 date doubling, none as drastic as this. What do you think?

    Something is under/in the 9 as well. Doesn't look much like a piece of a 3 though.
