    1) "Out of my whole entire collection when I had it appraised in 1991 they said my Rose Rookie is the nicest they have ever scene..I can take it out of the 3 inch glass screwdown for a better scan or pic if necessary ...... "

    or

    2) "Most key stars are graded in total about 25-30 cards have been graded by various grading companies and came back very highly graded...The Rose has not but been graded but professionally appraised and they rated it the nicest they've seen..."

At first glance I would have thought what a moron but then when you look at his other set for sale this guy may know cards.
  • Maybe... But look at the other scans in this set. The last images are of PSA cards, or are they? Do they look right to you? I could be wrong, they just look different.

They look normal to me but I am not a slab detective. His write got me laughing and then I just for the heck of it looked at his other items. It doesn't appear he had sold much high end cards on EBAY either.

Are you considering buying the cards or just posting the listing due to the funny graded cards and the wild boasts about the Pete Rose?

Let's face it we all know the Rose would be graded by PSA if it were in even close to as good of shape as he says because no one would leave that kind of money on the table who has other graded cards.

i wonder if the Rose were to be removed from that screwdown, how much surface would come off with it

probably one of those BIN's where the price is $40,000 but he'd happily take $5000
  • I say stars are not gradable or they would be.. Seller sells too many common graded cards to not get this graded as well

That set has been listed for a long time. I think I've seen it for the past two years, maybe longer. You think he'd try to blow it out at $32k. I don't know who that grading company is but I would put as much stock in those grades as I would if they were in top loaders.

Huge Red Flag! He mentions and SCD 96 Rose for $15,000.00, if his is better then why isn't it graded? That Rose will not grade by any legitimate TPG. That set at nearly 40K will NEVER sell.

Aren't you listening to what he is saying? He said some unknown off brand grading company rated the Rose the best they have ever seen. Sounds like a dead on lock for a PSA 10. If not, GEM MINT grading will give it a 10.
From what I can tell, 707 is the DOLLAR STORE compared to deans_cards. For what that guy charges, if I ever bought anything from him I would expect it to be delivered to me in a frickin' limo.

But yet, the best ever Rose is still ungraded. Things that make you go hmm....

Holy crap....I just hit the Buy it Now. I would not bother to wait around with a best offer on a set of this magnitude. One look at the bottom border of the Koufax and I had to have it.image

There are some people who's business model is set up to meet the demands of serious collectors and there are other business models that are designed to attract the dumb money.

  • Yes I think that's it mcadams. Just the low budget homeade grading cards gave me a chuckle.

I guess it is one of the nicest rose rookies there is as long as its not trimmed and none of that card peels off from being squashed in a 3" screwdown

He's failing at the latter, being that the set has been listed for years with no takers. He better hope a Facebook exec has been just dying to pick up a high grade 1963 set.
