What happened to the eBay Seller alert thread?

I can't find it now.

Wanted to mention this:

I was the high bidder on this card last week and up until the auction was supposed to end a few hours ago. Then I get an E-mail from eBay saying my bid had been cancelled and the seller pulled it. Then I E-mailed the seller nd he said he pulled it because he had an offer of $2,500 and it's sold. Then I get an alert that it's for sale with a BIN price of $5K. All BS and very shady IMO.

As much as I'm interested in this card, it's all rubbing me the wrong way as a little unethical, as I think I would have won it for less and he is now trying to get more

How does this guy get away with putting his phone number in his listing so he can receive offers?
From what I can tell, 707 is the DOLLAR STORE compared to deans_cards. For what that guy charges, if I ever bought anything from him I would expect it to be delivered to me in a frickin' limo.

I look at it this way: It is his card until you pay for it and receive it. If he wants to put his phone number, address, favorite ice cream and first pet's name in the listing; go ahead. If he is fishing for bids that is his right to do so as well. I don't blame a seller for getting as much as he can for an item. I will bid to where I feel comfortable, If I don't get it; that life, it is only a piece of cardboard with a picture of a player on it.

While doing what he did is unethical, in my opinion, I dont blame anyone for trying to circumvent ebay fees
IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY

Well, I agree with the idea of encouraging buyers to do future deals offline, or even agreeing to a BO that you ahndle via the site. IMO however, once you add a listing you have a moral obligation to adhere to the terms and conditions you agreed to when you added the listing.

I agree. Dude probably researched stuff and realized what a rare card he has, didn't like the number the card was at and pulled it. Unethical in my book.

On top of that, he E-mails me and tells me he sold it for 2,500 and it resurfaces the next day, and then the whole "i'll just throw it in my shoebox if I don't sell it" stuff. It's all red flags and I think people should tread lightly

I don't see how it is unethical. Like you said, he did some research and found that he has a very rare card and does not want to let it go for cheap. I think you are just a bit upset that you did not get it for $2,500. It is still his card to do with what he likes.
