OT - If you have NBA TV turn it on NOW

I don't know if it's a repeat but NBA TV has on a documentary "The Last Night of the ABA." Awesome footage of DR. J and comments by many ABA stars. I think it replays next Wednesday.

ABA History is one of my favorite sports topics. Such a fun league. And if you're investing in HOF rookie cards, there are a few I would definitely buy now. Did you know, if you look through history of the NBA/BAA since 1946 and ABA 67-76, every "Best Player on a Championship Winning Team" is in the Hall of Fame EXCEPT: Warren Armstrong/Jabali (1968 Oakland Oaks) and Zelmo Beaty (1971 Utah Stars) unless you want to make the case that Gus Williams was better than Dennis Johnson on the 79 Sonics (I would argue DJ was more valuable to that team). Those guys WILL get in at some point. Other surefire eventual ABA HOFers will be:

    Roger Brown (Pacers)
    George McGinnis (Pacers)
    Louie Dampier (Colonels)
    Charlie Scott (Squires)

one of these days, all of them are getting in the HOF justifiably.

Man ... when I was a kid I LOVED the ABA. Growing up on Long Island I was a big fan of the New YORK Nets. They began playing in a small arena (Island Garden) about 10 minutes from my house. They played there for 3 years (69, 70, 71) and I used to go to quite a few of the games. I was 12 years old in 1970 and I can remember going to about one game per week when they were home. They had a kids "Fan Club" which cost ONE DOLLAR to join. If you were a member of the FAN CLUB you got into the games for ONE DOLLAR! Instead of individual seats they had wooden benches like they used to have at high school football games. On average there were about TWO - THREE THOUSAND people per game. (I'm going to try looking this up after I post.) So it cost a buck to get in, 25 cents for a soda and 25 cents for a sno cone. $1.50 for the night and I was set.

I could go on and on ... thanks for bringing up the ABA guys and allowing me to stroll down memory lane. (Damn ... I'm talking like an OLD guy now!)
    STAY HEALTHY!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

That's a good list Vito put up, especially Charlie Scott.

If any of you guys haven't read it, you should pick up a book called Loose Balls by Terry Pluto.
