Did anybody notice that the Long Beach and Baltimore shows conflict next June (2013)?

Call me compulsive, but I was looking at both shows' websites, and their June 2013 shows fall over the same dates. Many people opine that their are too many shows, and maybe this conflict gives rise to that theory. I would guess that LB will not have a good east coast dealer turnout for that show.

Competition between Major Coin Shows is pretty stiff and I'm sure that one venue would like to be the ONLY venue.

I'm so confused. Was the overlapping at the last SC show kind of like the proverbial last straw that broke the camel's back?? I mean they could've just accepted that they managed their schedule poorly and just said, "oh well, let's try again next year" instead of just shutting down completely.

No.
Major dealers can only be in one location at a time. If a West Coast Venue relies upon East Coast dealers, any East Coast venue could begin holding shows on the same weeks as the West Coast show. No dealer will travel when it's not necesary.
Big Coin shows are not cheap to host and if dealers can be attracted away by convenience, then the big shows will simply die.
The East Coast has a huge population base and traditionally, a huge collector base. Its not to say that the West Coast doesn't also have a big base but its nothing compared to the East Coast.
When an East Coast venue starts trampling on a West Coast Coin Shows regularly sheduled show dates, it tells me that the East Coasters want that dealer business.
For Baltimore to start scheduling their shows on the same week as Long Beach, Long Beach will lose simply because East Coast Dealers bring inventory which is not regularly seen on the West Coast.
One of the primary reasons I do not get excited about attending my local coin shows any longer, is that its always the same dealers with the same inventory.
The primary reason I like to attend a National Show is that, my local dealers will be there but there will also be a bunch of dealers that I normally don't see with new and different inventory.
I think that big coin shows are getting highly competitive. This only hurts the collectors.
