20 years ago, remember UD Heroes of Baseball card shows

My son graduated from high school in 1992 and had his on Card business. He setup at 2 major shows that summer the Cleveland and Detroit shows. Did anyone attend these show and remember the 8 1/2 x 11 limited edition numbered hand outs and various autograph guest that UD brought to the shows.

I remember those shows and all of those handouts they gave as well. I did the Field of Dreams show held not far from the Field of Dreams movie site in Dyersville, Iowa. The show basically sucked but it was cool to see the old players playing a game on that field.
I am on a budget and I am not afraid to use it!!
  • At the Detroit show UD was promoting the movie Mr. Baseball and had Tom Selleck signing autos on Sunday. There was a huge crowd waiting to get in the door and half of the people were left in line when he stopped signing after about 1 hr. I got a Dan Petry auto that day but can't remember who else was signing for free.

Yupppp. Those were the good old days for me. I went to the Philly area show and I still have a few of the sheets. I am not sure what the year was though or if the sheets are worth anything.

Yes indeed, those were fun collecting days. Dallas had a show back then. I also have some uncut sheets of basketball players that were produced by Skybox. I also attended a big show in Houston where Upperdeck and Mother's Cookies all had tables and memorbilia. Those were all fun shows for sure. We had 10-12 card shops in San Antonio back then with multiple shows. Now we have two shops and 1-2 rinky-dinky shows a year at best.
