Card shops in St. Louis and Busch Stadium auto access

Heading to St. Louis for a few days, including taking in the Sunday Cards-Phils game. Anyone from the are know if there are any card shops around? Staying downtown at Union Station.

Also, how is the autograph access in the stadium before the game?

Can't wait to see a good game between Wainwright and Halladay.image

  • Hi,

I was in St. Louis last year for a game between Royals and Cardinals. Even though I was sitting on the Cardinals side, I was able to make my way to the visitors dugout and easily got some autographs from Eric Hosmer, Melky Cabrera and Alcides Escobar. Moustakas, Gordon and Butler completely ignored us. Others, less known Royals, came were easy to get. I was there at least an hour before the start of the game and was able to stay around for 45 minutes.

Now, don't waste your time with the Cardinals, they will completely ignore you.

I don't know about card shops in the area.

    Hope this helps,

    Lee

To hell with card shops- just make sure you go to Imo's. And if you can, grab a 'concrete' at a Ted Drews.

    Viva the Lou!

Yeah Ted Drews is on the list for sure. It is only going to be 95 degrees plus this weekend!image

Great time to visit the old ballpark!image

    Imos +1.

Unique St Louis style pizza. But, most non St Louisans don't care for it. Different cheese. I have been in Texas since 1995 and still order them shipped here. Was in St Louis last week last weekend for a graduation and had one...yum.

And, Cardinal players may not sign autographs but they have been back to the Series since 1985 image

Everybody I've ever met who liked Imo's (or Provel cheese, for that matter) grew up in St. Louis. Unlike some regional foods, which can be appreciated by non-natives, St. Louis style pizza is one of those culinary delights that seems to only appeal to people who were raised on it. To everyone else it's just the foulest tasting pizza they've ever consumed.

Imo's "the bomb" Ted Drewes "the atomic bomb". The Cardinals have not only been to the Series since 85 but have won it twice!!!!! Charlie Gitto's Italian close to the stadium is also pretty damn good!!!!! There are no card shops that I know of close to Busch but there is one on watson.

Don't listen to all that.... go to Johnny's Restaurant and Bar in the Soulard neighborhood. Great causal place with good food and nice scenery. 1017 Russell Boulevard

If you're staying at Union Station, and if you happen to enjoy good beer... go to the Schlafly Tap Room, it's only a few blocks away, definitely walking distance. One of the best regional brewery's in America and the food there isn't too bad either!

Oh yeah, and if autographs at the game don't work out for you... and since you'll be at Union Station... often, many players (from both teams) go drinking at Harry's after the games. It's only 2-3 blocks straight down Market from Union Station. I've gotten several autographs there over the years. Not likely to find success after the Sunday game you'll be going to, but if you'll be in town Friday and/or Saturday... very good chance.

No, no no Promethius has it wrong image; if you are going to the Soulard area, just south of downtown and the stadium, go to McGurk's Irish Pub, also on Russell, or for a little better still, go to Tuckers close bye.

And you can contact Bill Goodwin, who lives in St Louis, to see if he is showing anything

Thanks guys. We will definately check out the tap room as I am known to enjoy a good brew or 7!

Goodwin's stuff is a little pricey for a bottom feeder like me but thanks anyway.image

My boy cant wait to go to Ted Drews! He is almost 12 and has discovered his appetite!

If you'll be in town tomorrow... heard this on the radio this morning... Saturday from 10-6 is the annual Pork Shop. The Tap Room hosts an outdoor BBQ and Rummage Sale on their lot... so you can shop for junk, eat BBQ & drink beer all in one place!

Well the game was great and my boy and I were thrilled to see Molina hit a grand slam! First one I have seen in person.

    Ted Drews was awesome!
